What are those goofy stud looking things in the valve cover bolt holes?

They are studs. I don't know if it is something that mitsubishi did on the 95-96 heads or something the previousowner did. My valve cover didn't seam to fit over them so I pulled them out.

So how much trouble do you guys think I'll get in if I put the head in the dishwasher??

Just make sure to bake off any remaining grime on it in the oven right after
