CART went bankrupt, by the way... That series is now known as Champ Car World Series, sponsored heavily by Bridgestone and Ford. IRL did something that CART lacked, and that was providing a cheap racing platform. CART kept getting closer to F1 technology and that was hurting the smaller people. IRL went to naturally aspirated V8s and limited the amount of electronics on the cars, sort of like an open-wheeled NASCAR if you will. IRL has flourished, CART went bankrupt and the Champ car series is still struggling. You do the math.
