Re: hi dsmers! Care to help me?

We actually have had a couple huge threads in the past few weeks regarding engine and suspension setups for someone starting fresh from stock. We give our advice to those who deserve it. Since you know so much about cars and are such a guru, why are you here asking us? I don't think you're understanding the fact that it costs a lot of money to build a car capable of handling 600 hp....I'm talking handling it, which is WAY easier than actually making it. Again, for the 37th time, how much money do you have to spend?

I was thinking the same thing too

Re: hi dsmers! Care to help me?

If I were you I would start with a very well and heavily built 6 bolt engine, and as much as you don’t like it, you are going to have to get new springs, valves, cams; well lets just say you will need a heavily built head as well. Also as the members were saying, you are going to need a big big turbo, big injectors, big money, some type of crazy fuel setup, DSMlink(or your choice of management),clutch, flywheel, stiff ass suspention, and some other things I am forgetting. Then when you get the whole thing set up in you car and the engine and clutch is all broken in, you will probably launch it, then find out you need new axles, built transmition, and some big ass tires(with 600hp, even all wheel drive spin out), getting to 600hp is allot of work, time, education, and most of all money, and if you are looking to get 600hp, you might as well buy a car with 600hp. You will probably end up spending less money that way. Either way, good luck to you in you adventure to 600hp.

Re: hi dsmers! Care to help me?

If you're serious about making 600 awhp, get a second car for a daily driver, like a Honda Civic that wont eat any of your money. The find a place where you can put the car for a long time while you get all your shit together. I do agree with pretty much everyone here, if you weren't such a car noob, you wouldnt have to ask whats needed for 600awhp. I understand you don't want to have to keep "re-buying" parts to get to an ultimate goal. As was already stated, there is a lot of stuff you can get right now while the car is mostly stock that you would need at the 600awhp level.

It is very hard, very few who attempt it actually succeed.

Re: hi dsmers! Care to help me?

Wow this thread is entertaining.
I take it you want 600awhp on pump as well, on a dd?
If we are talking 600awhp on race gas, on a dyno dynamics dyno pm me and I'll break your heart with $$ figures.
You'll need:
Built 6 bolt shortblock (2.0 or 2.4)
67mm+ size turbocharger or a serious nitrous system
enough fuel to support the above mentioned power levels
drivetrain to support the engine
suspension to support the chassis
brakes to slow the damm thing down

I have 2 customer cars in the stable right now that are near/close to that goal, both have well over $10k in just parts invested. To do it right, to buy it all new, and to have someone install it costs money.

$2000 for nice wheels/tires would be pretty cheap, I'd say you'd be looking closer to $3500.

I don't do the shaddy "I don't what people to catch up or be at my level" unlike other people.

I think it's been mentioned here before by someone that some guys don't want other people to catch up or outstage them and so they won't help noobs or give them solid advice.

Apparently you missed my point. It's not about wasting money. Sure, you'd save a small amount (in relative terms) by going all at once, but it's not worth it. If you don't learn by doing and just try to go on advice and put together a monster you will end up failing or killing your car and possibly yourself in the process. It doesn't take much money to build a 300-350hp car and much of the stuff can be kept or resold when you decide to upgrade. Then when you spend your fortune on building a 600hp monster you'll know what you're doing, how to handle it and most importantly not blow it up and lose all your money and hard work.

So, seriously, what's $500 lost/used to learn to do things properly when you're going to spend many thousands in the long run.

Re: hi dsmers! Care to help me?

What bolt-ons do you have.

If you plan to have anything near that goal, start with some basic mods. Get DSMlink or AEM stand alone. Get a High Pressure (HP) Manual boost controller. Get walboro 255 fuel pump, big injecters, fuel rail, new fuel line, Fuel regulator, FMIC.

3' exhaust, intake I will assume you already have

there is so many options you need to narrow it down for us.

Re: hi dsmers! Care to help me?

I just keep the boost down and run 110octane when I want to push 600whp but for DD I'll just keep the boost low so that's the plan in the future.

Any more input from you guys?

Re: hi dsmers! Care to help me?

Do you want 600awhp on a Dynojet AWD or Dyno Dynamics AWD? There is about a 100HP difference in power there.

Do you want to be a dyno queen or actually go fast?

Here was my recipe:
Stock bore 7-bolt
Block cleaned/honed/decked
Eagles/Wisecos
1G Head
HKS 272s
Crower Springs/Retainers
Big intercooler
Piece of shit intake manifold held together with silicone couplers
Walbro 255 intank + Walbro 255 inline
950cc fuel injectors
Good clutch
AEM EMS
3.5" Exhaust
67mm P-trim turbo
Tial 38mm Wastegate
Terrible 17" hockey puck tires
Power leather interior/carpet/all interior panels/sunroof
Fat guy who can't drive
31psi of boost on VP C16 race gas
10.4 in the 1/4 mile

Re: hi dsmers! Care to help me?

Honestly I think there are only 2 DSM's on here that have made 600 whp. You really have no idea what you are getting into. I'll take you for a ride in a 460 whp car and I think you will get a different perspective. I can light up all 4 tires in 2nd gear just stepping on the gas.

You can get close to 600 whp if you take my setup, put on a T67 and upgrade the fuel lines and pump. I haven't added it up, but I probably have $12k - $14k in upgrades into my car.
