Re: Project S14 240sx
^^ I have no idea wtf those last two posts are about...
Anyways, today I drove the car over to Mark's to get a more thorough inspection of the car and to start fixing some of the Honda-boy hacks done to the car.
We went to U-pull it today to get a few things, since they had a '91 there. We just thought there may be a few things I could use. Ended up getting a wiper linkage, and a shifter boot since there's a gaping hole where the shifter comes through the floor.
So far we have fixed the wiper motor and broken linkage rod. The previous owner removed the wiper motor and fuckered up the rod that goes from the motor to the wiper pivot.
We also took care of the JDM Drifterboy hood mod (putting spacers under the hood hinges to prop up the back of the hood). Once we got the hood and hinges off, we found out he used a stack of sticky wheel balancing weights and super long bolts to space up the back of the hood. I wish I could have gotten a pic of how amazingly terrible it was when we found the weights under the hinges...
I also got the cowl trim attached better, since there was only one clip holding it on.
Anyways, here's a few pics of the car in the condition I picked it up in.
Amazing ground clearance...
Interior is clean, but needs some work
The engine bay needs a little work too
Most amazing bumper attachment method ever invented...
We still have a long way to go...

The wheels are gonna go. He ghettoized those too... There's a small spacer behind a big spacer. I haven't checked to see if there's extended lugs or not, but with how much spacing there is, I would think the wheels would have fallen off by now if there wasn't. I'll get a pic of that setup before I change the wheels.

Re: Project S14 240sx
Nice, well if u get the itch to drive I'm right up the highway, I'm stuck at home with no wheels.
I have seen the older 240s like a 92 and I loved the styling both in and out, I haven't seen too many of these.

Re: Project S14 240sx
On Saturday morning I went over to the guy's house I got the car from and picked up a few more pieces like the brackets for the rear seat back, various interior trim pieces, glove box, and the stock wing.
So far today I got the back seat and rear dash trim panel back in, still missing the seat belts though. I don't have many spare buts and bolts laying around, and they didn't come with the car so that was about all I was able to do today. Gonna go to Mark's tomorrow and get a few more things taken care of.
From what I've been researching, the speedometer should work if I just plug in the sensor (provided it's there and the harness isn't cut). It still has the auto ECU, so that's why the CEL is on. It throws something like 6 codes and won't idle when the engine isn't at operating temp.
So on the list for tomorrow:
Raise up the coilovers so that the exhaust doesn't drag over every little bump
Try to get the speedo and reverse lights to work
Get the wing re-installed
Get the lower shift boot installed
Get the massive exhaust leak fixed (the header to downpipe only has one bolt holding it together)
List of parts I need to find sooner than later:
Radio bezel and shifter boot and trim panel
Manual ECU
Plastic fender liners
Trunk interior pieces
Passenger side kick panel

Re: Project S14 240sx
It goes sideways very easy.
I know there is talk of a s15 rear end or a 1.5 lsd in the cars future

Re: Project S14 240sx
It's not really too much different than a clutched LSD in the noises it makes around tight corners at low throttle, but if the roads are anything less than dry, the back end steps out VERY easily

Re: Project S14 240sx
Haha no CA18 swap here. If anything gets swapped in, it's gonna be a RB25. I'm still looking into tuning options, I just want the manual ecu for now so that my CEL goes away.

Re: Project S14 240sx
Today I tried to get the speed sensor and reverse lights working, but the dumbshit kid fucked up the wiring so bad that that I'm gonna end up just rewiring everything for the trans. He cut the connectors off the sensors for the transmission, and completely removed everything for the auto harness outside of the wiring in the dash harness, including the wires and connectors I need to reuse.
But today I did get the rear seat bolted in, still missing the seat belts though
Got the spoiler installed
fixed the exhaust leak, but it's still damn loud
Got the glove box installed
Got the lower shift boot installed
Tomorrow I'm gonna raise up the coilovers and maybe try to find a way to get a hanger installed somewhere in the middle of the exhaust system considering that the only places the entire system is mounted is to the head, the front section of the cat-back has one hanger, and the axle back has 3 hangers.
