OLED is amazing stuff. I can't imagine having an 11mm thick display, especially since LCDs aren't exactly big to begin with.
I have seen both LCD TVs in the store and really didn't notice a difference. If I stared longer I could maybe tell that one white is bright, one black is darker, colors being better, but at a quick glance it wasn't anywhere as obvious as 60hz vs. 120hz. But again, given the choice there's no reason to not get an LED LCD over a regular one as long as the TV suits your needs.

Also keep in mind that walmart's tv's are made specifically for them with cheaper compenents, and all around less quality. But with that, the price tag is also less.

If I go into Best Buy that Friday and the price is lower, I will hit them up for a refund for the difference.
Worst case, they have a 30 day no questions asked return policy. If they say no, I could just swipe the debit card for another just like it and cart it over to the returns desk and hand them the older receipt for a refund of the sale amount LOL.

what does the study of the meaning of linguistic expressions have anything to do with tv's.
you must have missed my previous post where i mentioned that the difference isnt the screen its the backlight. or you miss interpreted what was meant when i said that the led's create much much more contrast, which is the measurement of the difference in light intensity between the brightest white and the darkest black.
and local dimming causes the led's to turn on and off, and that is why i corrected you.

My roommate who works for Ultimate Electronics told me they are having something like a 7 hour sale on top of their Black Friday sale. These items are not quantity limited like the Black Friday items are.

got a $29 shop vac at Lowes(the deal ends on the 30th, it's normally a $80 shop vac), a $27 craftsman buffer(normally like $60)at sears, and a buncha misc stuff. Black friday is pretty cool after all.

Well I got my self a set of arp l19's. Today still on black Friday price. Sold my safc2 this morring so the head studs ended up costing me 38.50 out of pocket. Now the 2.4 can go to the machine shop

Cyber monday, last day of best buy sales on tvs and shit. Last weekend we bought a new bed and with it (7-day delay) came a $349 best buy gift card. So, picked it up today, ran over to BB, and scouped up this baby:
(sorry for the crappy cell pic)
Samsung 40" LCD TV, 120Hz, 80k:1 contrast ratio, 4 HDMI inputs, fills my tv stand.
32" from the living room is now going into the bedroom, I'm going to try and wire the wall for power and cable w/o cutting too many holes in the walls, house is almost 100 years old :P
$509 out the door. |
