Nice job! It's cool to see that some people can still put shells back on the road. :thumbsandtoesup:

Thanks, I've put a lot of hard work into this. I'm considering selling this if anyone is interested.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build
Today I installed a rear strut tower brace, cleaned the bottom side of the hood. Took some pictures. I've been driving this to work the past couple days. I've put about 500 miles on it since assembly.

That makes me miss it a small amount now. I'd still like to get to see it, you should pm me your # again, I lost it when my phone went kaput a few weeks ago.
I always wanted to paint those wheels bronze since they were my backup wheels just to see how it would look.

I was thinking of having them powder coated black, bronze would look nice though, didn't even think of that.
Today I aligned the talon, it was way off, I'll post a picture of the printout soon. Drives way better now. Also, found 1 of the u-joints on the driveshaft has some play. Im going to swap it with my other driveshaft sitting in the garage, it has good u-joints. I also noticed a lot of backlash in the rear diff, and a howling noise around 50mph. Im going to swap driveshafts to see if it improves otherwise I'll be looking for a replacement rear LSD.

Should get some driveshaft bushings as well, you'd be surprised at how solid it makes everything feel.

Alignment print-off, handles great now, all the eccentric bolts turned like butter.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build
So I just changed the rear diff oil. The magnetic drain plug had a quite a bit of metal shavings, but definitely not the worst I've seen. The fluid was pretty thin, very dark and didn't smell like gear oil at all. With the fresh 75w90 and some limited slip supplement, I'm hoping my "howling" noise improves or goes away completely. I'm going to keep daily driving it, so far about 700 miles on it since the initial assembly of the car. I'm also hoping to get the cash together so I can bring it down to DB for a tune.

I'm assuming you're talking about the 2 driveshaft carrier bearings, my plan is to replace those with the new u-joints for sure.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build
My starter solenoid has been causing an intermittent no start, so I swapped it with a spare starter I had. Also, I've had to add coolant a time or two in the past few weeks, pressure test revealed a small leak on the heater hose, just had to tighten the clamp. Almost 3k miles since assembly, its been a great daily driver except the starter recently acting up.
Since I can get Blizzaks for 50% off store cost and I can mount and balance for free, I'm going to be getting a set soon and hoping for snow. Im going with the LM-60s they have a H speed rating. The WS70 is a T.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build
Not the carrier bearings but the actual mounts that connect the chassis to the strap thats on the carrier bearings. Nice improvement when done with rear diff mount bushings as well.
Eff this car is looking good!

Ill do both the carrier bearings, all the u-joints, and the strap to chassis mounts. This sloppy rear diff is pissing me off, tons of gear backlash and howls on decel.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build
I installed a deck I had laying around, I also chopped the stock antenna off and installed this powered amplified antenna on the interior. I got it at Orielly's for $18. It looks way better without the long stock antenna, and works great too.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build
So today I hit the 1000 mile mark since initial assembly of the Talon, I changed the oil and installed new Bosch Evolution wiper blades. I even got a new one for the rear. Looks like I need a car wash again. I'm also throwing in another pic of the new antenna.

Re: 1g 6 bolt 4g63 tsi build
Sweet! That is really cheap. Boost by gear sounds like it could be nice too, more for fwd or higher powered cars, but nice to have regardless

Yeah I can get any Firestone/Bridgestone tire very cheap. Even RE-11s and the whole Pontenza line. Anyone can text me their tire size for a price quote.
