Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Couldn't match my best from last year, once I figured out how to launch it on these tires I couldn't hit any gears. My clutch switch which allows for no lift to shift as well as antilag between gears in not operational and I was trying to shift upwards of 8000 rpms. Then you get into the whole breaking up in higher gears issue, which we got figured out later in the day. My best pass in the car was 12.14 @ 99, needless to say I was on the brakes hard as to not get kicked out lol. Oh well, glad we went up there and found out what our issues are before the shootout, hopefully it will all be cleared up before then.

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Yeah, there's a big difference between having a good setup and running a good time at the track. I've been able to leave 300' strips of rubber since 1999, but due to this and that, haven't gotten any better than a couple of lame 11.9s. After two years of shifting problems, got that solved and now I've got fuel issues. You fix one thing and something else pops up, it never ends when you get to a certain level.

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Were you getting good 1/8th mile times and mphs? On a no traction until 3rd gear run I did 102mph in the 1/8th and then 138mph in the 1/4. On my next pass, when I went 10.4, I got some traction (1.79 60') and it was 109mph in the 1/8th, but then 4th gear broke and ruined the mph.

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
You guys are too funny It's funny to listen to everyone post their times, but then follow it with "I had issues" ... clutch was shot, had shifting issues, traction issues, launch issues, car was breaking up past 7k, etc..etc.. We're all guilty of it. My best is 12.05 @ 117 (last year) but I know that's not the fastest car on here. It is in my area though. I went out to Rock once this year, but like everyone else "I had issues" The tensioner that keeps the a/c belt tight, unscrewed itself and was ready to fall off. Didn't catch it till I was home. I think that caused major vibration, thus knock. It's pretty close to the knock sensor. It was either that or shitty year old opened C14 gas or a combo of both. Could only get a 12.10 and that was the first run of the day. Won't go for 11's until this f'n weather cools down.
These times were on a 50trim, at roughly 22-23# full weight 99GSX. I'm happy.

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
I weighed my "boat" 3780 race weight w/me in it.
I'd like to get that down to 3600lbs by the end of season, 3700lbs if I keep the a/c.

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
I have no insight on this particular case, but I usually dont claim my 1 time high hp # when im out on the street or at the track. I give a realistic guess based on the conditions and how the car feels. A high hp car with a finicky tune can certainly have quite a bit of swing when its not in its "perfect tuning environment."

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
I agree with you there but there is still this part that doesnt work for me:
6 psi more boost from 22 loses 30+ HP but when raising the boost 4psi from 28 it gains over 200. I dont care how crappy the day or tune is... that doesnt happen

Over the years one thing has held true. When things don't go according to planned there is always excuses why. Some of them are legit and some are just bullshit.

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
That 535 wasn't safe. It makes about 480awhp on pump at a safe tune. (And that's not so safe, IMHO)
The "500" on pump is a guess, shit was fucked up. The 703AWHP was a "best of" type run on the dyno, but it is a sound 690ish at 31psi.

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
ok... he still said he was running 28 psi....
So at 28psi he makes ~480 but at 32 he makes ~700? I understand now

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Oh the edit explained it better....
At 28 psi is around 480-500 and at 31 it is a solid 690. I should think about running 3 more psi if I can gain 200 ponies from it!
I guess I dont need to say anymore.. You guys explained it enough, lol.

Re: Fastest Street Car On Style
Dear Lord...
The pump numbers are at a pumpable boost...22psi. Why is this so hard? A safe tune would use 20psi, at that boost we were seeing 485ish.
So all this bullshit is coming from the guy that "beat" a 125+mph Civic with his near stock Evo? I guess intercooler pipes blow off...

Let me explain this better...
They said:
We made ~530 on pump gas at 22psi.
Then they said:
We made ~703 on c16 at 32psi.
Then they said:
At the track we were making ~500 at 28psi.
Explain this to me.. Ill even sum it up:
22psi = 530
28psi = 500 (30 horses LESS than at 22)
32psi = 703
Now about me "beating" a civic. Yes, I trap over 125mph. I had footage as well as his timeslip showing that his car was slower. I dont really want to get into that whole bs again. (And not sure how a GT35r is near stock)
