You would need a downpipe and UICP to be made as well. Probably custom lines of some sort, or just new ones i mean for oil to the turbo etc.

This kit also requires transfer case modifications, lol.

It is cool no doubt, but would still be a bit of work.

Neato on that 3240 kit, I didn't realize it used a t3 turbo on it. Still, I've done the adapter thing with my hahn super 20g and I don't think I want to go down that road again. Stock frame turbos are dandy, great spool and good power. If I really want a hta86 turbo, I'll just have to talk robert into making me one w/ a stock center secton and turbine housing.

They are 'stock' but they are actually FP proprietary-cast parts. Very very stock appearing though. So yes, that's why I said, 'hta86 w/ a stock center secton and turbine housing' cause that would be a black (except the black uses a hta82 comp wheel, so this would be like a FP Brown or something!).

Re: beaterX project thread

Got this thing on the rollers tonight. Not the 300whp I was really hoping for, but meh, with my luck and how solid the tune is, I'm happy. Shane says it's really in line with other cars similarly modded, and I believe it. Good solid fun power on the stock turbo. 278whp/287wtq.

AFR curve sooooo flat, thanks shane!

25psi@3000rpm, thanks mivec!

280wtq@3500rpm, yippee!

Here's 4 runs overlayed. The Black line is NOT MINE, but another car shane had pulled up with similar mods. I'm a little short of it, but again, meh. Upper red line is current tune, green line is shanes 5-minute tune when I was on the test drive, and the lower red line is the car as it rolled off of the dealer's lot with the old catback, mbc, uicp, and random fmic.

A few notes:
-the perrin intake tube didn't lean the car out at all
-the aFe intake did lean out the car about half a point between 4000-5500
-peak timing is a bit down from your average X, maybe I'll get some better fuel in it some day and pick up that 15-20whp.
-my LC-1 wideband is within .2 AFR of DB's, good enough for me! I started geting a CEL the other day, turns out it was a rear o2 code...I didn't get it for like two weeks after not running a rear o2 (at all) and it came on the day I fixed the line to the FPR. Weird. There was one DTC I had left enabled, disabling seems to have gotten rid of the CEL now. So, no rear o2, no CEL's, yay!

I'm sorta at a loss as to what to do with the car next. BBX, Ported Exh Mani, and o2 housing/downpipe is what I'd like to do, but there's other things I'd like to do...sunroof, bodywork, etc. Budget is now getting very very tight. I'm pretty sure I'm just going to keep the car as-is powerwise for a while and just rock it. It's good clean fun and should be enough to keep me smilin for a while

Re: beaterX project thread

So, more fun issues? I had a roadside consultation yesterday. Tint = 16% front, 18% back...oops He also informed me that my registration is goofy, and the plates I got from the dealer have no year on them! On the left they say JAN, on the right they say MAR, but I bought the car on april 30th, and it was registered well into MAY? I'll be calling the dealer about this monday, fucking idiots.

Got a video of the car on the dyno yesterday, I'm really happy with how it sounds now, the aFe intake really makes this a turbo car

Looking great Scheides! That is awesome news that the Perrin inlet tube and AFE intake didn't have much affect on the AFR's. Sounds good in that video too

Those are great gains from when you picked it up.
We are sorry we didn't stay longer, but on a good note we did leave to get another DSM on the road.

Re: beaterX project thread

Anna was immersed in a book last night after we got back from Wagner's. I had a rom to test for a certain someone so I spent a bit copying tables over and then went out to the garage to load it on the car. I decided I should yank the front motor mount quick. I talked to AMS about getting a softer mount insert, and they suggested drilling some holes in the existing one (which is what I was considering in the first place). Six 3/8" holes:
Five minutes after jacking the car up, I had this:

Upon further review, I think I'm going to enlarge the top/bottom holes to 1/2", and add another 3/8" hole on either side f/r, for a total of 6x 3/8" holes and 2x 1/2" holes. This should provide plenty of stiffness over the stock bushing, but not rattle my head when idling.

Also, while I was on the ground, I happened to look up, at the bottom of the FMIC core, and look what I saw:

So, the FMIC is actually a Garrett/PTE core. 051-1124, specs are: 3" x 18" x 12"
Just nice to know exactly what I have now, instead of guessing.

The ROM checked out so watch for a post from our friend Tephra soon I will be pulling off the trunklid tonight and dropping it off tomorrow to have the holes filled! The rest of the car goes in for PDR, fill the nasty fender gash, paint, and detailing next week. Yay!

I didn't mind the mounts after a little time...just another reminder that it isn't my mother's Evo.

Well, if the real advantage of stiffer mounts is getting power to the ground faster and having less slop in the drivetrain, I'm still there. I can shift the car as fast as I want and down shifts are super snappy. I've already put 1500 miles or so on the car, and I would say I'm not driving it much. I plan on commuting in this thing daily/regularly so the back seat is staying in and I'm going to do everything I can to balance performance and comfort. Suspension is next, after the bodywork is done.

Side note, you wouldn't happen to know anyone with stock GSR suspension for sale, would you? Ideally I want bilsteins, but damn they are impossible to find!
