Fans not working

OK well the car finally started up today! I installed a 14 and a 10" slim fan. Here's what I did, in the order I did it. I had my dad turn on the AC. The AC fan kicks on like a champ! So we turn the ac off, let the temp rise and wait for the 14" to turn on. It never does. I wonder wtf, is it the wiring or the fan. So I plugged the 14" to the AC plug, and tell my dad to turn on the AC and see if the fan kicks on because we know the AC wiring works because it just worked with the 10". He turns on the AC, nothing. Now I hook up a battery to it to see if it will spin. Still doesn't work. OK so the 14" fan is bad, crappy!! So now I hook the stuff back up, but I have no voltage at the AC fan now. Apparently whatever was wrong with the 14" killed something in the AC circuit when I hooked it up to the AC plug. I checked the fuse on the battery for the RAD FAN. It's blown. I replace it, still no voltage at the AC plug. I swap the RAD FAN relay out with another one, no change. So now I'm not sure wtf is wrong. Any input on this?

Re: Fans not working

OK well I should have looked closer. There's another little fuse box up on the drivers side by the firewall for the AC fan stuff. Sure enough there was a blown fuse. Now it's replaced, 10" hooked up to it, and working! Now I have to just get a new 14" one to replace the broke one. Also, is this OK to hook up the 14" to the stock wiring? All I did for all this was chop off the wiring from my stock fans, then attach it to these new fans. I'm guessing I didn't have to worry about the amount of current going through there since the wiring was already setup for the stock fans which pull a good amount of current too.

Re: Fans not working

Hooking up aftermarket fans to the stock wiring works perfectly, thats what i did with my Spal. Just make sure you get the positive and negative right otherwise your fan will blow the wrong way.

Re: Fans not working

Thanks! Ya I took apart the 14" one, and the motor is like seized or something. It only turns like 1/20th of the way. Piece of crap. I tried to get one of the motors from my stock fans to work, but the bolt holes dont line up so I'm just going to trade it in tomorrow before work I guess.
