head swaps

will a turbo head bolt up to a non-turbo head? I heard the blocks are pretty much Identical but wasn't sure if this would work. If so what are the benefits are far as power? or is there no gain?

Re: head swaps

A turbo head will not bolt up to a non-turbo head.

But the heads will interchange with the blocks.

Re: head swaps

Ok, you need to post what year you are asking about. Also, why would you bolt a turbo head up to a non-turbo head? I'm guessing you ment bolt up to a non-turbo block?

1990-92 Turbo heads will bolt up to any 1990-94 non-turbo BLOCKs.

1993-99 Turbo heads will bolt up to any 93-94 block but need to be modified to fit on a 90-92 block to accept the larger head studs. 1990-94 all use the common 4g63 casting block. Turbo blocks just have a few more options.

95-99 non turbo's have a Chrysler 420a block. Completely different than the turbo motors so in return, no turbo head from a 4g63 motor will bolt up.

Re: head swaps

Sorry I did mean the block. What type of power gain/benefits would I expect if I did this?

Turbo cams in the NT would give you a slight gain. As for the actual heads...

Re: head swaps

is larger head studs the only thing that changed between 92 and 93 blocks?

Re: head swaps

No... 93's have 7 bolt cranks, different crank case covers and oil pans. Piston squirters are different to - non removeable.

Re: head swaps

It was actually April of 92. So some 92's have 7 bolt motors but its pretty rare to find one.

Re: head swaps

The heads are pretty much the same, besides the cams.

I could wrong, but I thought I heard either the SRT4 head or the stock turbo setup bolts up to the Neon. I just cant recall which it was, had a friend talking about it a while ago.

Re: head swaps

Neither do... I have a friend doing a turbo setup on his Neon right now and he had to make adapter flanges for everything. The head didnt bolt up so he has to use his stock head and the intake and exhaust mani's have different bolt patterns.
