tim, i got the same product from romster & it does work fine. but good luck on trying to understand the software (mmcd) if you have never used it before. i had not & had to spend several hours searching/reading to havea good idea on what the data meant.

berda, it can be used on a laptop. i don't know if the data can be directly read into excel or some DAS program, but i am aware that you can get a palm simulator for your laptop & and run the datalogger program on it. it essentially makes your laptop into a pda (which seems oddly like going a "step down" to me considering a laptop's capability).
cudvig, i wish i had known about the do-it-yourself route & saved myself that $30. but knowing me, i would have screwed something up & made a seeming 1-2 hour project into 4 - 5 hours easily. that 2-3 hour savings is worth the $30 to me
so in the long run it all worked out.
