Exhaust manifold?

This is probably a stupid question but I'm gonna ask it anyways.

Does anybody know if an exhaust manifold from an EVO 8 will fit a 1g or 2g. Will there be any clearance problems, or will it just not bolt up properly?

Re: Exhaust manifold?

I must say, that's a good question.

Given it is the 4g63, suposibly the same power plant that was in the 2g eclipse, with minor differences. And seeing as the 2g mani bolts up almost perfectly. I duno.

See if anyone else can answer it.

Bump.

Re: Exhaust manifold?

EVO 8 4g63 faces the opposite direction in the car. Clearance is probalby the biggest issue.

Re: Exhaust manifold?

I dont think it will work. Even if it did, the turbo wouldnt end up in the same spot and the lines/dp probably wouldnt work.

Re: Exhaust manifold?

I've been researching this a little bit more.

The manifold itself appears it will bolt up to the head, but the turbo flange isn't a standard mitsu flange. As previuosly stated above, clearance will not permit it to work since the wonderful techs at mitsu designed it backwards from our 1gs and 2gs.

Just FYI if anybody really cared to know.

Re: Exhaust manifold?

A couple people put the Evo 8 16G setups on DSMs a while back. I think there was a FAQ on how to do it. It seemed like too much work for what it is though.
