If you pay your full 6 month or 12 month premium up front (no monthly payments) you get a discount.

Well I knew that but I don't have that much laying around. And they didn't say how much the discount was so I couldn't tell how much more expensive it was from All State. Does that make sense?

OK here's what I came up with.. I thought it was pretty interesting.
AAA: $1065.00/six months
Progressive: $1082/six months [for whatever reason, they decided to include the pay in full discount with this, so I'm not sure what the exact price is
American Family: $1,089/six months
Esurance: $1315/six months
Allstate: $1838/six months
Geico: $1861.90/six months

Those prices are for just liability state-minimum coverage? Its very possible all those prices are determined as if you pay 6 months in advance so be sure to call each individual place if you can. Assuming that AAA price is correct and you go wtih them, thats $177.50/month. Can you afford that? Is driving even worth that? You might be better off trying to find a job somewhere that you can take the bus to (if thats available in your area). No matter what though, all insurance companies generally require at least a 2-month payment in advance for all new policies so you'd be looking at $355 minimum.

The progressive discount for paying in advance is huge, basically one month free every six months.

Luckily, my grandpa is paying the first 3 months of insurance for me. So I have a little time to save up as much as I can, and possible pay the other three months ASAP. I don't have much of a choice. There is no bus that runs from my house to my school. So Monday, I'll be spending ALL day finding whatever job I can that I can get AT LEAST $200 every two weeks. Not that hard. I made $7/hr at Coldstone and got $200 every two weeks. But I know I can find better than that even, so I think I should be ok. I'll be back to being the definition of a broke college student, but as long as I'm in school and working, I'm making my dad and grandpa happy, so OH WELL.

Good attitude, sacrifices do need to be made in the short-term in order to better yourself in the long-term. Any serious job leads yet?

Not really. When I called Inver Grove Ford they were only hiring for Full time, which won't work with school. I applied to the casino, which would pay pretty good, but its sooo far. We'll see. Going out Monday will help big time.

The good news is that with allt he homework and reading I'll be doing, I won't have time to drive much of anywhere else, so I'll be saving money that way since I won't be going out all the time.

Re: Not something I'm proud of, but I'm now "uninsurable".
Lol one time I saw you driving Tauni, and normally you would wave to me, but you most have been in a horrible mood or didn't recognize me. When I waved at you, I had some buddies of mine in my car about to blow a blunt and it seemed like you were just mad pist. Might not have even been you however I swore it was, do you ever drive an Explorer? Anyways you were speeding lol
However, I'm on or close to being high risk too, so I'm cruising around in my 1990 auto acura legend baby. Too easy not to speed in that car just set cruise and ride. That DUI when I was 16 is gonna screw my insurance for a while, but I'm glad I got that because I would probably be driving around drunk still like everyone else I know and I will NEVER drive drunk again. My full coverage insurance on my 02' RSX type S was cheaper than just my liability now on my legend.
P.S. Remember when I took Nick's 5.0 mustang in that little stock 4 banger hehe, then Jerry wouldn't race me in his Tiberon (sp?) before he sold that pos for his srt-4?

LOL! Yah, I had a black explorer for awhile, and I drove my dad's explorer once or twice. And I was probably pissed. I speed worst when I'm pissed. And I get pissed easy haha.
Yah, luckily my new car has cruise, I've been setting it everywhere I go, so hopefully I will be better at NOT getting tickets haha. Ever since the last ticket though I've REALLY been watching my speeds and slowing down a lot. I still get pissy when people pass me but oh well, they can have my ticket. Not to metion I have a heart attack every time I see a cop!
No, I don't remember? In your DSM? Jerry's a pussy and a mama's boy. K yah.. Don't even get me started on him.

Work on that good student discount, it really helps. Also, some insurance companies give you breaks when you have multiple policys with them. I have my renters policy through state farm which is also my car insurance and it ended up saving me about $5 or 10 a month.

I have nothing else to insure. IF I could get a bike in the spring, I would insure that too, however, with the insurance situation, that doesn't look too promising right now.
