Question Unusual idle after clutch install

I recently replaced my clutch in my '93 Talon TSI. After we got it put together, it idled weird. It sounds like it is cammed. The needle on my boost gauge "shakes" a lot around 10 psi of vacuum. It's weird because it runs great, it's just weird when idling. I don't know what could cause this, but it's not normal, and i would really appreciate any advice given.
If there are any questions that would help you diagnose it, please ask and i will try my best to answer.
I will try to post a video soon.
Thanks

Try reading that. Those could be some of your problems.

Maybe a vac leak? If your talking about 10 vac on a aftermarket boost gauge then you for sure have a vacuum leak. Maybe even the gauge it's self.

Re: Unusual idle after clutch install

First place to start will be to double-triple check everything you removed while doing the clutch such as the intake, intercooler pipes, BOV, etc.

My friend told me to like tape off the pipe that goes down to the intercooler and stick an air compresser sprayer hose thing in it and listen for leaks. Is that the best way?

Re: Unusual idle after clutch install

Make a boost leak tester with a piece of PVC and a bike tire valve stem. Search around here for more info on that

No. You can build a pipe that clamps to the turbo inlet (must be air-tight) that has a valve stem on it, then you can use a air compressor to pressurize the system. If you don't want to make one most the local shops probably have one and would be willing to test your car for a small cost. Have you gone over everything you removed already to make sure all clamps are tight?

did you get the flywheel resurfaced when you did the clutch. its just an idea but maybe your flywheel is a little out of balance and its only picking it up at low rpm. again its just an idea.

but it does sound like a vacume leak of some sort

No, I didn't. I needed to get it together and running ASAP. If/when I put in a new clutch, I plan to resurface it though.
