Rim repair

I need to know of a local shop that does rim repair. I got a great deal on some 17x8.5 rota slip streams and one of the rims has a bend in it. I need to bring it up to see if it can be repaired or just buy a new wheel.

Re: Rim repair

you could probably fix it yourself, I have corrected pretty nasty bends on rims.

you need to mount the tires, the rubber acts as a damper

take a plastic/rubber mallet and go to town on it, I always put the rim back on the balancer to make sure that it is true when i am done with it

Those rim fixer places are $$$$

Re: Rim repair

I just found that the wheel has a crack in it. I took a picture, just wondering if anyone thinks this is repairable. Im guessing I will just need to buy a new wheel, the only problem is I can't find any online for sale in this color. I might just buy a black one and then get the rest powder coated.

Re: Rim repair

I called them and I will be taking the wheel up there tomorrow. Hopefully it can be replaced cause rota doesnt make this color anymore. It was a special wheel that came out in 05 for the evo.

Re: Rim repair

Ya it does, but untill I can get a replacement wheel, I had jessie at primo performance tig up the crack so it would hold air and I could mount a tire to get it on the trailor. Its gonna be pretty hard to find a replacement wheel in the same color.
