Re: Having overheating problems

Could it be a gasket restricting the water flow possibly on the pump or somewhere where coolant flows but not enough to cool the car?

Re: Having overheating problems

Ok so MAP called me and they found a small leak right below the thermastat housing and fixed that... also they said my 2 fans running off of the one wire isnt sufficient enough..
SO, They need to weld a 90 degree elbow onto the turbo, then they need to redo the bottom intercooler piping so that a factory fan will fit on the passenger side. and move 1 of the mishimoto fans over to the drivers side.. Then rewire the fans so that they are both running off of there own seperate power source.. 1 off of regular heat and 1 off of the a/c wires... $230!!!!!!!!! I wouldn't think that I should have to pay for anything really since I paid over 7k on the motor and then over 1k on just trying to keep my engine cool.. We will see what happens though....

Re: Having overheating problems

I would say they try this and if it fixes it, then pay them and if it doesnt then they should not charge for things they are just trying. Ya I realize that they are a business, but when you pay for a engine swap, you expect it to work correctly when you take possesion of it. You have had tons of problems and you have not even gotten a deal on tuning.... Something needs to happen, its not even my car and it pisses me off.

Re: Having overheating problems

Chris,

As we have said MANY times if something that we did is causing this issue you will not be charged to rectify it. On the other hand, your car is approaching 15 years old and there are many components that we did not touch / replace on your build. You paid us to replace your short block, assemble it into a long block, and get the car running which we have. If you would like us to rectify this cooling system issue we will do everything in our power to do so, but I simply can't understand why you think we should do this work for free if it has nothing to do with the work that we performed? Also, the suggestions we made in regards to replacing the radiator and fans were exactly that, suggestions. When trying to diagnose an issue like this there is no way we can be 100% certain that our suggestion will rectify the problem. With that said, regardless of whether or not moving and rewiring the fans rectifies the situation we will need to be compensated for our time. If there is any issue with this please contact me immediately so that we can stop working on your car.

Why is the power so low? Stock cams? Mitsu exhaust housing holding it back?

I'm not really sure myself... I was expecting more. I have bc272 and everything is built.. possibly because of the mitsu housing.

Re: Having overheating problems

Got my car back from MAP today and as for now I couldn't be happier with it! However I need to put my thermastat back in because I cant even get up to running temp without one.. This is no big deal. I'm just glad I can get from point A to point B without getting hot.

So special thanks to John at MAP and also to MAP for there help and support on getting my issue fixed!

They ended up having to weld a 90 degree elbow onto the turbo and to push the intercooler piping out of the way far enough to fit a stock fan on the passenger side and then rewired the hole thing so everything is perfect!

Re: Having overheating problems

I'm glad to hear we were able to resolve your issues sir, and I hope you didn't take my comments above the wrong way. We run into this situation all too often and it is frustrating for both parties, but I like to think we have a pretty good idea of what we're doing here

Re: Having overheating problems

Yes, I am very happy with my car. I have been driving it all day and still no overheating problems! However like I said I cant quite get it to regular running temp so I think I'm leaning twards putting my 180 degree thermastat back in and drill 2 holes in it. Hope it makes warming up easier..
