Love it, street credit.
In all seriousness, good deal to get it back on the road. Not enough DSM around anymore.

Re: Carl's 98 auto AWD project Black Magic
On Saturday my daughter and I made the drive up to Grand Rapids to buy the Built short block from Dark2g. The motor looks great. He and his friends were really cool and have a nice shop to work out of. it was really nice meeting you guys.
Yesterday I finally got the old motor out of the car, and disassembled. Its not good so far I think the only parts I've found that are reusable are the cams, oil pickup tube, and the piece that goes around the rear main seal.
So at this point I'm in need of
2G head
front cover / oil pump
oil pan
baffle plate

Re: Carl's 98 auto AWD project Black Magic
we agree fun meeting you as well. I will take a look in the garage tomorrow and see if we have any parts to help you out for sure. I assume andre had an oil pan to give you. idk i'll deff check though. Also I would not feel comfortable reusing the pickup tube but thats me. I also hope the tubo is ok.

Thanks. If I do reuse the pick up it will be cleaned multiple times. The turbo exhaust inlet had a lot of stuff in it from the cylinder that the valve broke. The wheels look fine and there is no shaft play but I will probly have it rebuilt just to make sure its good to go.

God that's a lot of destruction for a 16G car.

It was a hell of a 16g car considering the weight. I think the destruction would have been less. But when the rod broke it took out the rear balance shaft. When that happened the oil pump locked up and took out the timing belt destroying the head.

Holy epic carnage pics batman! Thank you for sharing!
My favorite part is the rod impressions on the baffle bolted under the crank, you can see how it just bounced bounced bounced its way across there and then kabam out the side of the pan

If you're going to break something, do it big. I think you win.

If it's the one at $325, you can get it brand new from WB Mitsu for less than that with the discount.
