Based on your sale price of $680 plus the $600 fix/upgrade price, it would cost you another $400 to get a brand new hta 35r turbo. You'd be able to keep all your current setup too.
Good luck on the new setup, whatever you choose to go with. I'm always amazed how much power this car makes.

yup, this is kinda what I was suggesting. The hta3586 would be a bigger turbine wheel, and a way better compressor wheel, and you get to keep your cast manifold and such, no crazy changes, nice and reliable. Otherwise you're moving to a tubular manifold, new downpipe, new dump, blah blah blah. If you got an insane deal on a nice quality tubular manifold and the downpipe, I'd say go that route, otherwise I have a hard time believing it won't be a much more expensive setup.

Re: Beater 2g
scheides will be so proud of me. I decided to go the upgrade route and will be shipping my turbo off to FP tomorrow. They said turn around time is usually only a couple days so I'm hoping I can get back to the track and make a couple passes at full power with the nitrous.
Thanks again for all the input guys, it helps to see the options all in one spot and the pros and cons I didn't think of.

Re: Beater 2g
sweet dude, i think you made a smart decision. some people get the crazy giant upgrade itch and end up spending a TON of money for a setup that performs marginal at best.
I think your combo has treated you insanely well and i'm excited to see how far you take it

Re: Beater 2g
If you didn't drive your car on the street and had a built motor that could rev really high I would say go bigger, but considering you like to "drive" your car I think you made the right choice.
If 600whp doesn't make you happy on the street then your should go fucking work for NASA or something.

Re: Beater 2g
Nice, so you got a HTA 3065? What does the HTA wheel flow, 72 lb/min instead of 65? I can never remember. Anyway, should spool a bit better plus more HP, never a bad deal, and cheaper than a new turbo.

Re: Beater 2g
Huge thanks to Danny and Shane for all the help getting my car up and running to make it to the track one last time, those guys are the shiznit!
Finally got my turbo back about a week ago now.
Pulled a few late'ish nights putting her back together to make it to the dyno last Thursday...
That was without any nitrous^

Then took it down to cedar falls only to blow apart my intercooler again. Only got 2 runs in before it blew and spun really bad at the top of 2nd when the nitrous hit, but this is the best one. Kinda bummed but was still a pretty fun trip.

Maybe I'll cage the pile this winter so I can run somewhere other than Cedar or maybe build a motor, if only I could make up my mind. haha

Awesome! I see an HTA wheel in there, what are the specifics on the new snail?
No cage! Keep it a street car! I had a feeling in the back of my mind you had something up your sleeve yet this year

Re: Beater 2g
Wow, looks like you had all kinds of traction problems through first and second. Time for some better tires and a new suspension setup?

Re: Beater 2g
Thanks guys!
It's the dsm82, just upgraded the 3065. I wish I knew more about it, but its a fp turbo haha
Too bad it's only bb?
Yea I need a set of slicks, maybe I'll get that figured out first. It has a set of tein coilovers on it, just need some more track time on them to figure out what works best for this pile

Re: Beater 2g
I wasn't slamming it at all. I just haven't run a BB turbo. Too $$, and expensive to rebuild, when/if it's needed. Otherwise, you can bet your ass I'd have one. I'll be going that other route this winter. In either light, Im excited to see what this turbo yields you with that spray. Hoping for some 9's for ya next year.

Re: Beater 2g
After having a BB gt3076 I can say that BB turbos are definitely sweet. Initial spool is only a few hundred RPM sooner than journal bearing turbos of the same size, but transient boost response (between shifts) is super fast.

Re: Beater 2g
Thanks again guys! I didn't say you were slamming it swifty, I was just curious on what you meant is all. Too bad you guys got rained out on Sunday, I would've liked to see what that beast could do.
I'll try and bug Shane on Friday to see if he can do an overlay. I think the best it ever made before without nitrous was 510 and never really pushed it much but think it was pretty close to being maxed. It spools a tiny bit faster than the 3065 but makes pretty much the exact same power up top, not very impressive to me at least for an 'upgrade.' Boost was falling off pretty hard core so maybe with it holding boost it'll make some more power or keep the power band from falling off at all.

Re: Beater 2g
perhaps you had a boost leak at the intercooler that only worsened when you ran at CF? Why does the fmic keep blowing?
I too wish I could have gotten it out. I guess now I gotta wait to see what it does next year.
