Re: JET's 335Xi

I'm curious how the Cobb AP works alongside the JuiceBox? This is the first time I've heard of using both. Do tell!

That is one thick intercooler core. The only one I've seen in person for the BMW is the Cobb. How do these two compare? Cobb's has an odd dual-core design, but from what I was told that was to maximize the frontal surface area.

Re: JET's 335Xi

The AP is used to get the car close to where it needs to be. It is usually used on cars with upgraded turbos. The JB4 then does the fine tuning and allows you to switch maps on the fly and it much easier to use ethanol on. The backend flash is specifically designed by the company that makes the JB4 to work with it.

The Cobb is a stepped core and you can get the same one on Ebay under the Trust brand (remember them from the 90's?!?) for $400. The stepped core does give more frontal area, but the flow path is horrible and they use a 5" core instead of 7" thick. The top part of the core is also trapped in an area with poor air flow to it. There has been a decent amount of data on the different ones and of the cheaper ones VRSF seems to be the way to go. The next ones that seem significantly better are $1k instead of $450. Didn't seem worth it to me.

So now for the body I ran the numbers on keeping this style body and putting a different hood on it. That would run about $1,500. Now I have to decent if it is worth $2,500 to get a little more aggressive front end and the ability to run sick wheels... It should also help handling because the AWD likes to push some, so the wider front track should help with that and also running wider wheels up front would help too.

That's interesting, thanks for the FMIC & tuning info. Doesn't Trust = GReddy?

For some reason I just had a craving for Porky's onion rings...odd.

Yes, Trust = Greddy. I heard they went bankrupt about a year ago and I am not sure if they just sold the name off or if they are actually doing anything. That was the first I had seen of them in years.

Re: JET's 335Xi

The fucking snow tire saga continues! So the place I ordered my wheels from had checked fitment and given it eh green light. Got them last week and the fucking things dont' fit! They center barrel is too small and they hit the brakes. So I had to send them back and they made me pay some for their mistake. I was pissed and fought them and got the fee down to $150, basically return shipping. I am so freaking done with this BS now.

I just ponied up and bought some BBS wheels from Tire Rack and I will be done with it. I have to keep the tires from the first bozo now and put them on these wheels because it took too long. Wheels are supposed to be here Monday.

Re: JET's 335Xi

Good call, those look great. Generic wheels and the shops that sling them are always shady in my book.

Re: JET's 335Xi

Those Niche wheels are actually quite nice and this place has 3 locations and good reviews so I thought I was pretty safe. Not so. You can bet I am going to be posting up some crappy reviews for both places next week once I get my refund back. That first place I might do today since I won't be dealing with them again.

I had thought about ARC-8's, but this was kind of an impulse buy. I was going to get some cheaper ones but did some research and all of the cheaper ones have issues with bending easily so I just said F it and got these BBS ones to be done with it. I'll be getting new summer wheels too and I will dive in to that deeper.
