So today starting logging the new MAP, which slowed spool down because it was surging. So backed MIVEC down.
Here is what happened with boost when it surged.
Keep in mind, warmer now then when I took the last logs by about 30degrees.
Then, second run, found some issues it looks like.
I did these runs about 2 mins apart, so we are thinking I simply emptied the basket where the fuel pump sits. So looking like I might need a surge tank anyway
At around 7500 or so I stop watching fueling and start watching rpms for letting off for shifting etc and watch knock. The car didn't knock at all above like 6k, just small stuff lower down which I think is motor noise.
The new fuel setup has plenty of fuel pump I think its just at lower tank levels the basket drys up now. I was at 1/4 of a tank.
So I guess over the winter its time to research surge tanks.

Or just don't rip it when out of gas. That would be the least expensive solution. Is there any way you can have the tune flagged for this condition and let it not let it destroy itself? I mean yeah a surge tank ...fuel cell ... thing a mabob.. etc.. Would take care of this but eventually a car runs out of gas. It does happen.
I am used to that, I am simply testing out my new fuel system. I was hoping to be able to still beat on it at 1/4 of a tank, but looks like its still more or less 1/2 and up to be safe.
Do you have issues when you get lower in the gas tank or emptying the basket of fuel too fast?
Did a bunch of logging tonight, high rpm low load stuff (5,6k rpms), set up 2step, did 2-3-4 pull and a new 3rd gear pull seen below. Different road than last time, shits never too consistent for me, always around 585-610whp though so whatever.
New MAP going on tomorrow, target boost of 32psi. The car rips right now.
For those who could be curious...what AFR, boost, timing, knock look like on the one above.
New MAP in, did a 32psi one and 33psi one, broke 500ft/lbs on one run but it was a bit downhill so prolly 480 ft/lbs, felt good but having issues midrange. leaning out there so we are adding fuel, the car is basically missing there, I think anyway, from not enough fuel.
Well, I figured I post up a quick snippet here as well, rather than everything in the RF thread.
I accomplished my main mission this weekend, drive evo to track, drive evo down track and drive evo home. No major issues and the car made it home so a win in my book.
Drag racing, not so easy. Not ever having gone I wasn't too disappointed really and the car felt strong until my clutch started locking out on me big time. I only got 2 runs in without clutch issues, 1st run which was fail because I left traction control on and the 2nd run which was ok, but still terrible for an AWD car (2.5 60') but still ran 12.0 on that run.
Then on my 4th run, lost my oil cap and with all the problems shifting (couldn't get into 2nd, 3rd or 4th was a pretty bad run) I decided to call it quits as I found my oil cap wedged in between my downpipe. So I will be switching back to my OEM oil cap as apparently the metal anodized one I have doesn't work well with my valve cover as everything heats up and loosens. I also probably have way too much crank case pressure and am getting the SSP catch can with 10AN lines off the valve cover this winter.
Anyway, my 2nd run ever, best run of the day..
A pic when I got home, kinda liking wingless!
Oh, the few things I took out for some weight savings
Clutch is now feeling pretty bad too. I am guessing its cooked. I will probably be running a twin disc next time. I guess we will see. I can still drive the car now but its very rough on engagement now and I am guessing there are some pretty big heat spots.
I want to run AMSoil dominator oil but it only comes in 10w30 and 15w50. I used to run the 10w40 AMSoil high zinc AMO oil. But recently switched to dominator and am running 10w30.
I think with my clearances I should run thicker and at my power level the dominator seems to make more sense. Thoughts?
I would feel OK if all I used the car for was for weekend fun and race track. If you drive it nice and easy on a day to day basis at all, I personally wouldn't run that thick of oil.
