Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
Ahh, yeah, i was going to mention, that thing looks thin, but it probably helps to "aim" the exhaust gasses toward the turbo.

Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
They're here!
My girl at Walser Hyundai called me and said she got to drive the 1st one in. A leathered out 6cyl A/T.
It's the only one they got so far but should have more this week.

Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
Nice! What sucks though is that I've been hearing that the 2.0's are gonna be delayed till mid March. How did she like it?

Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
Dealers across the country have all got V6 Auto's, no 2.0T's yet. No solid info on delivery dates either.

Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
Edmunds puts the V6 on a dynojet.....
http://blogs.edmunds.com/straightlin...hotopanel..2.*
We've already tested the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, but enthusiasts keen on exploring every facet of its performance credentials now have another data point to consider--our chassis dyno result.
Hyundai pegs its brand-spankin' new Genesis Coupe's 3.8-liter V6 at 306-hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. To detemine just how truthful they've been in this rating, we strapped a Genesis to the Dynojet rollers at MD Automotive's facility in Westminster, CA, and let 'er rip.
Click for a larger image. And forgive the little gap in the data at 5300 rpm--our speed pick-up momentarily lost its tach signal.
Overall, this result by the Genesis coupe indicates that the V6 version is generating the full output claimed by Hyundai. Of note in particular is the character of the torque curve--flat's the word.
Remember, don't go comparing results across dyno manufacturers because the planet will tilt off-axis and we'll all freeze to death. Feel free to pontificate how the Genesis compares to the BMW 335i and Infiniti G37 we measured a while back, though--we used the same dyno for all three.

Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
Nonsense! Hyundai must be retarded:
"But we do know that there's a torque-reduction feature on this car that would suck some of the fun out of Conrod Straight. Accelerate hard in 1st gear and then do a hard upshift to 2nd at or just before the marked 6,500-rpm redline. You'll get your upshift, but as the revs drop back, you'll feel an additional, artificial cut in power. It lasts for about 3 seconds.
Hyundai says this is a drivetrain protection measure that's triggered at 6,800 rpm (the engine's true redline). However, the car's tachometer lags behind actual engine rpm, so it takes trial and error to find a shift point that keeps you out of the protection zone. Oddly enough, you don't get any intervention until you actually complete your upshift — you can ride the engine to the rev limiter with impunity.
"There's some talk about minimizing the delay, so that it's maybe just a second, but nothing has been signed off," Miles Johnson, Hyundai communications manager, tells us. "The car is going to market with the 3-second calibration."
Even a 1-second delay compromises acceleration, though. Moreover, the automatic torque reduction makes it difficult to get a smooth gearchange at even two-thirds throttle, as it exacerbates the drivetrain lash already present due to the Genesis coupe's soft engine mounts."

Ghey. I'm sure a little ecuflash hacking will fix that

Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
I hope so; a 3-second lag defeats the purpose of buying a sports car.

Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
Buying an automatic defeats the purpose of buying a sports car.
But like mentioned, I'm sure everything will be hacked once people start getting their hands on the electronics. Then everyone can start busting automatic transmissions.

This is on the manual transmissions.

"Forgive our graph, we momentarily lost the tach reading"
Give me a break. Do another run to get a good clean graph. What a bunch of pussies.

Especially since that isn't the real dyno sheet anyways.

WTF! I hope an AEM FI/C or EMS will take care of that. It is unacceptable.
Is this only on the V6? Either way, it is a few hundred rpm past the marked "redline", so I guess it isn't that big of an issue until you want to rev it out a bit(build the head). By that time, some sort of solution will be had I'm sure.

Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
From what I've heard they used an ecu similar to the EvoX, so it shouldn't be too hard to crack and get rid of that stupid torque limiting thing.

Re: 4b11t going into new RWD Hyundai coupe
The Evo X ECU has some very annoying airflow limiting tables. It compares TPS to RPM and if the current airflow isn't close to whats in the airflow tables, then the car goes into limp mode.
