Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I have been going through evo withdrawal lately, no car parts, no driving, nothing and lately been on the forums browsing a lot.
So I felt the need to buy something but didn't want to get into my new turbo setup just yet, landed on this.
Not sure if this will be a "bottleneck" in my fuel system so I might run it on the return line but I think this is pretty cool. I will feel better always knowing my e content and when Tephra finishes the whole "flex fuel" patch so you can run whatever e content I'll need this sensor anyway. I got the GM sensor with it.
Now to just find out where to mount this.
Also been going back and forth a ton on turbos, looking at the 7670 BW EFR lately, might do that but who knows.

Yea I am really liking the looks of the 7670 turbo.
here is a comparison from a stock turbo...keep in mind the EFR started the pull later and is still full spool before 4k. This is on a 2.2L as well and its the "break in tune".
I am hoping if I get this to have full boost by 3600 and peak torque starting at 4k or so. Then shift at 8k.
I think it will be a much more fun street car on this setup.
Plus the EFR has an integrated bov and 3 port, so that will be interested to try. Also oil/water cooled and BB, so should be factory reliable.
I am thinking I will do this if I go a full kit, otherwise I'll be on a stock frame turbo of some sort.
I will also probably go the .92A/R internally gated version.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
great question, guess we will see
Now is a good time to not go back as I have to rebuy all sorts of shit regardless, so mind as well be a full kit right?
I am 50/50 now on stock frame vs. EFR kit.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Oh, sorry, I am not sure what the latest kit is I guess...sorry.
I need to buy a lot of parts to get it working again, so I am trying to find a good balance between power/spool for an all around fun car.
Sorry, just figured I'd share the stuff I found on the BW, looks promising to me, was hoping for actual feedback.

Check out the BW thread. Nothing top secret in there, but I tried to share what I've learned about them.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I'll check it out.
I've been talking with Geoff at full race a bunch over the past few days. Talking with him, it seems like the EFR stuff is really nice for down low punch, almost stock frame like. I'll see what you posted and see if that sways me more.Thanks.

Yeah he knows his shit when it comes to turbos (especially BW). I run his Full Race spec 84-75. Tell him Brandon with the SC300 says waddap.

LOL looking for feedback. Dave, you switch setups every 6 months, and basically do the opposite of what everyone on here tells you to. What good would feedback really do?
Just pick something and run with it, we all know you'll part it out and be running something else 7 months later! haha

Now that is a good idea! The only problem...I don't have a way to drive my car with no parts, so if i did that I wouldn't be able to show off the awesome body kit unless i invite people over to see it on jackstands.

I'll tell him waddap for you. I think he does know his shit for sure, but he is for sure the below.

FOr sure, I can see that. But doesn't mean they aren't good. Everyone is super biased now a days from what I can see. Seems like there is never middle ground. It's always..."this is the shit" or "that is shit". Never, "that is solid but this is all around better" etc.
It was funny, geoff was saying no surprise how i described my PTE setup like it was awful or something.

I deserve that..haha. But I am trying...maybe not super hard, but trying to get something i enjoy enough to keep. I would've stayed with the Map kit but I needed money so I had to part ways.
Regardless, I have to buy parts to drive my evo, so either ways its going to be a bunch so mind as well get what i want.
By feedback, I was seeing if anyone else has seen good results from EFR's. They seem like unicorns, hard to find info as BW apparently can't keep them in stock.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Boostin Performance did a good review of PTE and FP turbos.
I didn't say or infer that BW wasn't good, they are one of the most durable turbo's out there.
