Re: My Talon
The complete brand-new CHRA should be about 500.
The turbine shaft/wheel is $200 alone... plus labor, plus rebuild kit, plus new center section= more than $500 so the entire new CHRA is the best bet.

Glad to hear you're getting it worked out. Come to the track!!

Well my center section didn't fail... I thought the shaft seized, because I could not move it with my hand, and the oil fitting was loose and oil was on the fitting. But the center shaft is not blued at all, and the bearings are perfect. There is a clean break on one of the fins of the turbine shaft, and the people at DC said it most likely broke off and the foreign object and out of balance wheel is what cause the destruction. The shaft is actually bent, too. So if the shaft did bend, and wear into the cast center section I would have just needed a new turbine shaft.

Re: My Talon
Thanks to Dennis at Diesel Components. I have a brand new shiny Holset CHRA. It set me back about $550 But hey, my car will be going by tomorrow.
Next on the agenda:
Install turbo
Run at the track
All new front end parts and alignment
Maybe a Rasky's detail session????
Take nice pics while shes clean and shiny.

I had a 1/4 tank of e85. I'm about 190lbs., so maybe 3200w/driver?
Seems like my car has no low end and mid range power, it really doesn't launch hard. I think the 2G timing map on the car is too conservative.
Reguardless, I am really happy with what it ran, a lot quicker than I thought.

I've done pretty much everything I've ever wanted with a dsm with this car (make over 400awhp on DD, run a decent 1/4 mile, and beat a very intimidating V8 car in a race where I was completely underestimated), and I've owned 1G awd's my entire life. I'm kinda ready for something new. I really like projects, and I actually complete them!
But we will see, because I have really put a ton of time and effort into this car, it really isn't worth selling!

Re: My Talon
I'm getting really annoyed with my triple a-pillar pod, I might just got get an AEM Boost and mount it and my wide02 on the column.

Re: My Talon
My A-Pillar kept falling down when I had my gauges mounted there. It's like it couldn't handle the extra weight. I ended up mounting my gauges on my steering column.
