Re: Anybody on this site have a motorcycle?
I wont ride with any one till they get there endorsement. No offence to anyone I just like the bike the way it is and still have both arms and legs. My advise for novise riders, is to ride by your self for awhile and dont watch any stunt videos, and whe you ride in a group stay in the middle or rear and WATCH WHAT YOUR DOING!
Also I have heard very good things about Minnesotas Motorcycle safty coarse, you may want to check that out, plus they give you your endorsement at the end.
Just watch your self on the roads this summer though guys, Minnesotans are the WORST DRIVERS in this country when it comes to looking for bikes in there mirrors. The Hells Angels need to come MN to do some legislation like they did for california.

Re: Anybody on this site have a motorcycle?
Minnesota's motorcycle safety course was really good, I feel I learned a lot. I had to take it because I was 15 at the time, but I highly recomend any new rider no matter their age to take it.

Re: Anybody on this site have a motorcycle?
since 99, i've wanted an r6. It's a small bike, but within my means. I still wish to have that bike..I love the blue, and it's styling is sexy as hell. I just gotta move out before I ever am able to own one..
isn't it funny how most our cars could walk the bikes, yet the bikes get more attention? I think they bring about different attitudes, and just riding them..it's a much more free-feeling.

Re: Anybody on this site have a motorcycle?

What the hell is that! The New R6's are no pussy cat bike, I rode a new one in chicago when I was buying my new V-Star Midnight and that thing is nibble and quick and reving to 17k and throttle by wire they are very drivable but dangerous in the wrong hands.
My 04 R1 is brute power and handeling to boot, plus they run high 9's in the quarter of the show room floor with the right rider. Didn't know there are alot of street dsm cars running 9's.I have never been passed by a car on the R1, when I was in Califonia and I had my 98 R1 when I was 17 I would consistanly put the hurt on exotics and I really couldn't ride to well then.
I would recommand the safty course as well, I took mine it California so I could get my license early as well. The more you can learn and practice about riding the better. Many 18 year old kids out there buying new sport bikes and thinking there Greg Rainy and either killing there ride or worst them selves and or someone else.
I have riden to Scottsdale a few times on my old liter bike didn't seem to be that bad as for the drivers, but you really need to pick up the pass during the day becouse they will ride your rear tire if you aren't doing 80+.

Re: Anybody on this site have a motorcycle?
i am saying that generally, the 600's or even 700's are at the level of a dsm, or slightly slower, depending on the car. this didn't include 1000's. but, that also assumes that the guy knows how to ride the bike. I have seen a few r1's go down..in fact, cher and myself kept up with that green one down on uni (yes, it is green..they had tv's in the mirrors, during the bike's past life) and cher only made 428..

Re: Anybody on this site have a motorcycle?
well even the 600's are getting to be pretty quick these days. my bike runs a 10.65 quarter mile. I'm not sure what the 0-60 is, but the 60-100 is like, 4.6 I think. I'm not sure how many street dsm's are running those kind of times. I know there's some that are running better, but for the most part, I don't think that many are.

Re: Anybody on this site have a motorcycle?
The old R6 ran quarter mile times in 10.8 and thats with only 105 hp. The new one is faster but offical times haven't been posted for it. So if there are dsms that do that on the street man more power to you.
If you raced the bike on university, then the guy dosn't know how to ride or the bike is a p.o.s., frankly anyone that takes there bike down there isn't to bright. Street racing cars through stop lights is brilliant. Not to bright on the drivers part either you could run the idiot over when he hits the sidewalk or another car. Try a interstate with minimum traffic
I can beat vipers off the line with my bike with out pulling the front tire off the ground. If I do end up getting the R6 this year too I will garentee it will smoke a Viper or Zo6 as well.
Trying not to preach, but sport bikes are the fastest street driven transportation you can get. Just fact the power to wieght ratio is crazy the new litter bikes, zx10r and R1, coming out next year are rumored to make 190-200 horse power and wiegh just over 400 pounds wet wieght. Now thats some POWER!

Re: Anybody on this site have a motorcycle?
he hung with a shitty ghetto ass rider.
i'll say it again, if you think its possible, race jet. make 600whp even and try it again, it won't matter.
as a matter of interest, how many liter bikes have you ridden??

Re: Anybody on this site have a motorcycle?
I can see an 11 second DSM beating a street bike on stock rubber with a novice rider from stop light to stop light...especially if it's a liter bike. There's a fine line between smoking the tire, looping or launching with a bike. The DSM can launch hard even on a slick street. Now if you want to bring that race to the highway, that's a different story. Click the bike down a couple of gears, wave bye-bye to the car and roll into the throttle.
I have a friend with a bone stock 'Busa that only pulls 1.8x sixty foots on the stock tire. That's ok 'cause it still runs 10.oh's all day long.

Haha, sweet scooter! I bombed around on my ex girlfriend's scooter 2 summers ago. I probably put more miles on her Geely than I did my Ninja.

Re: Anybody on this site have a motorcycle?
I dont think your friend with the busa can ride. that or his bike needs maintance. Never seen a stock rear tire back loose when its been warmed up. 10's are slow for a busa, I have a few friends with bolt ons and a 2lbs. nitrous bottle running 8's on the stock chassis, only one as an extended swing arm.
A 11 second dsm with a consistant driver might have a chance with a 600 and a poor rider, but most the track bikes out there now are 600's.
