Re: How much have you spent on your loved one?
I love myself an awful lot, and I've spent countless amounts of money on me.
Oh, my car... Fuck that piece of shit.

Re: How much have you spent on your loved one?
OMG, you guys are fucking crazy, I'm at about 7k including everything but gas and maybe some oil I keep every receipt I can and I love the fact until the 2k transmission I basically would of had all my money out of my car.
If it was for the time, blood and awesome memories of my car it would be gone and hopefully never replaced by a DSM unless I was out to do a cheap, tincan build.
Right now I am at a point where if it needs anything over $150 it will get parked and semi-parted for a long time, my dsm will take the back burner to everything until I am somewhat comfy for $$$.
My wife hasn't gotten that much $$$ out of me either, about even with the DSM.
Don't tell her, but if she gives me too much trouble I'm gonna park her ass too.

Re: How much have you spent on your loved one?
I have about $16,000 into my car. Not even exaggerating. And it's no where close to where I want it to be.
Could I have done everything a lot cheaper? Yeah, but I don't roll that way.

Re: How much have you spent on your loved one?
I honestly have no idea, but If I had to make an estimate, I would guess I have around $10k into mine not including the purchase price of the car or all the labor hours my friends and I have into it. Kinda makes me sad to think I'm about to let it go for half of that...

Re: How much have you spent on your loved one?
I remember back when I graduated, I spent half of my grad party money on my laser, like $1k, and thought that was way too much. I don't think ive ever spent that much again on my dsm. My last couple have been really budgeted, and bought modded, so that has kept cost down. I know my next one will be different, since I'm basically starting from scratch, its gonna hurt my pockets down the road. I'll have to start up a tab for the upcoming project.

Re: How much have you spent on your loved one?
I actually won the Worst Luck Award with my local car club for this same topic. Over the past 5 years I've owned 2 Talons and a WRX and have spent $75K+ now on the three cars. The one talon I have since sold for $250 and the other two cars both have spun rod bearings. The Talon has ran a total of 2 months in five years with 3 fully forged internal motors that have been destroyed in that time (none of them from stuff that I've done, very long story).
Pic of the framed award:

Pic is of me once again working on it at BIR when I bent a shift fork.

Re: How much have you spent on your loved one?
I have about 6k into my fwd 90 Laser and about 1200 into my awd 91 Talon. I'm finding it's too easy to spend money on my dsm's....

I have over 35k into the evo and the body was free
I have around 12k into the talon

I have around 10k in audio in the spyder,22k for the car when I got it new, still have over 25k or so to get it done the way I want (this is why it has been sitting for years as a shell)

Right at about $45k for my car now including the $35K car that is only 1.5 years old. Ouch.
Lomker you didn't include the base price of your car...you are getting up there

Nope. I spent the same as you with all the options last Sept. I'm planning on a carbon hood/trunk/JDM wing over the next year but should be done in the upper 50's.
A lot of the guys on this thread aren't including their own labor. I paid to get most of the work done. It's amazing what some of them have just in parts.

Re: How much have you spent on your loved one?
Are the commonly available carbon fiber hoods for the X lighter than stock? I know they're not for the VIII/IX.

Thats funny, same thing with WRX's, the CF hood are actually heavier.

Nope they aren't.
The only one I have seen that is lighter is the one Gates is running...

Nope, they are for looks. It is around $2k for full carbon. Varis has one that is carbon with frp underhood for $1500 or so.
Having a lighter car is pointless to me...I need track time and to drink less beer. The first part will happen, second is not so likely.

You can get them insured for more. I had my stealth insured for $40k when I drove on the street, just in case. Just need an appraisal and accurate receipts.
The Audi has drained over $2k in just parts from me this year, in maintenance. Needless to say that car will be available for sale this spring.

Re: How much have you spent on your loved one?
I've decided I'm gonna keep a running total for the 240 project. I'm not sure if I'll regret it later or not. We'll see.
