Re: 6 bolt swap 97 tsi

Thanks I'll give it a try and download it to my mac side and see how it goes. If not I'll reformat my windows side and re-download it to there.

Re: 6 bolt swap 97 tsi

I had a friend try to plug in his laptop to eliminate some possible causes of link not being able to connect. He is running link v3 full on his 2g also and the ecu still would not connect. We then plugged in an obd2 CEL logger and it was able to pull codes. Now we can eliminate the Laptop and the OBD2 port being a cause. Any ideas on what it could be? How do I test the link chip?

Another problem now, I redrilled new holes and heli coiled the threads where the exhaust manifold bolts to the head. I went to bolt on the turbo to the exhaust manifold and ended up cross threading the bolts We'll see how it goes tomorrow when I attempt to remove the bolts and see if its the threads or the bolt thats f*cked up.

Anyways, heres some pics of the car. She is now up in Duluth, made it up here just fine. Running a little shitty because of the major exhaust leak after the manifold though.

Re: 6 bolt swap 97 tsi

Thanks guys. I pulled out the turbo manifold bolts and it seemed like only the highest threads on the bolt were stripped. I put a nut in between the bolt and manifold so only the bottom threads are holding it on. Ghetto rigged but it will have to do for now until I get some new OEM bolts. I can finally feel boost!!! The boost controller I bought from C3LICA (Brad) actually came off the threads and came apart. Now in need of a new boost controller. One problem after another. DSM 4 Life! hahahaha

Re: 6 bolt swap 97 tsi

Yes it is. Nice an quiet at idle and roars at WOT thanks for the help with the exhaust! Should I spray some hi-temp paint on the welds to keep away the rust?

That would be a good idea. Wire brush the welds before painting it

That sucks about the boost controller! Remember what you bought it for? I could give you your money back if you wanted to give me the boost controller back.

Car looks super clean though!

No still haven't gotten link to work yet, I don't have wifi at my place so I couldn't search the web for info on connecting with the port. Maybe I'll just try to connect with link at my campus... lol
If you find the link plzz let me know!

Re: 6 bolt swap 97 tsi

Update: Got link to work, I never downloaded the updated drivers (face palm). Got the random misfire to go away. Also, my injectors were set to 560's and I'm still running stock 450's! No wonder my car was backfiring.

REBUILD NEXT WEEK!
Parts I picked up:
-Evo 9 pistons/1g rods (Got a good deal on these)
-Ross racing pistons/eagle H beam rods
-Cometic engine gasket kit
-ACL tri metal main/rod bearings
-arp headstuds
-fel pro composite HG from oreillys
-PTE 1000cc injectors
-Gates timing kit
-Balance Shaft eliminator
-AEM Wideband
-Redline cocktail for the transmission

Maybe pick up redline lightweight for the Xfercase and rear diff. (Or should I grab the 75w90?)

This is my current plan since she will be my school car for the next few years until I graduate. She will maybe see the track once a year but other than that I will be driving her to work once a week and maybe a cruise every weekend along the North Shore.

Re: 6 bolt swap 97 tsi

Anyone able to help me install some evo valvesprings this week once I get her pulled out? Name your price! Else if I can borrow the valvespring compressor I'll grab you a case of beer or something.
