Regular halogen projector lenses makes more of a straight aimed beam with a cutoff with hotspots and HID projectors makes no beam but a wide 180° even light coverage area with a SHARP cut off to not blind people.

Re: HIDs installed
Good job, HIDs are the win, unfortunately without the proper housings it's pretty much doing more harm than good.

Aiming or not, if you were to take a picture of your car shining the lights against a wall and compare it to a car like my Evo you will definitely see the difference and why everyone complains about the glare.

What's more dangerous, Pete's HID's, or you damn near spinning out on the On-Ramps in your Conquest last fall trying to get to my house?

And which one is going to happen every night with a daily driver. I will be the first to admit that I'm not perfect, and I was going to trailer it up there, but unfortunately my friend couldn't get a trailer from work.
Also, I don't intentionally make my car unsafe, I just have a rwd car with crappy tires on it, and had to drive it in the rain. Not an issue anymore though.
Also, "damn near spinning out" was a little oversteer, not an all out drift fest like you are making it seem like.

Re: HIDs installed
None of us are perfect, and most of drive cars, and drive in ways that could be considered "unsafe" at times. I don't find Pete's headlights to be as devastating to public safety as you're making it out to seem.

Re: HIDs installed
Exactly... thats why I dont think this is such a huge deal.
Ive driven past people with their brights on and I can still follow the road just fine. I might have to squint and sure it may be annoying.. but so is our loud exhuasts, rough riding suspensions, etc.
Next topic.

Re: HIDs installed
120 bucks for slightly used 8k HIDs sound like a good deal? He's used them for like a month or two and is selling his car and putting it back to stock.
I might offer 100-110 but his asking price is 120.

Re: HIDs installed
8k is ricer purple.. the highest Id go is 6k for bluish color, 5k for max light output, 4300 is usually what stock hids are.

Re: HIDs installed
6k is just enough white with a hint of blue in them for me. i wouldnt want to go any higher in temp color.

Re: HIDs installed
8000k is just plain ricer and the light output won't be that great. Get 6000k at the highest if you want good looks and good vision, if you want the best vision get 4500k.

Re: HIDs installed
Cool.. thanks for the info. The Projector headlights have a purple hue to them... I didn't know until I installed them... and being that I don't like purple I obviously don't like it. One of the bigger reasons I want to go with HIDs, as well as the other benefits.

Re: HIDs installed
Just seen his lights tonight. They look pretty nice. He has them aimed down, and they are not any more blinding then a normal set of halogen headlights. We shined them on my garage door, and yes there is some glare. Wethen parked my galant next to his, and my Halogen ones looked worse then his did. His don't have a perfect cutoff like stock HID's, but aren't any worse then my stock Halogen's.
