Re: Evo X upgrades
Just drove it 35miles back to the office.
No visibility? Check.
Louder than hell? Check. Test pipe added a new level.
Vibrates and rattles? Check. Motor mounts helped out.
I need to get use to all the new sounds...

Yea i thought my car was loud before the testpipe, but a testpiped X is crazy loud.
Hopefully the new loudness drowns out the rattles, i know it did on my car.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Congrats on getting it back, I'm sure it feels good.
Shane is always willing to go that extra mile, there have been nights I've been up there and he's still been around after 10/11 trying to get a tune worked out. You're car was in great hands!

It'll be back in a few weeks for the tune and then we'll see what it does. It's clearly down on power but I've been getting by with a sub-100hp vehicle for a few months here. lol.

Congrats on getting the car back! Can't wait to see what numbers it puts down. How many miles of break in are you doing?

However many miles I put on before getting on Shane's schedule. From what I've gathered there's no firm opinion on such things. I'll just follow the oil change schedule that he suggested.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Went to Valvoline for an oil change...had the whole staff standing around my car and bullshitting. That's one thing that I enjoy about having a car like this.
On the way out of there I tried a 3rd gear pull and holy crap. The untuned spool is pretty late but that also gives it quite a hit when it comes on. The BOV with the upgraded spring is surprisingly loud.

Shane said conventional 10w40 until 4500 miles. Changes at 150, 500, 1500.
With track days over the Summer I'll undoubtedly change a few times between 1500 and 4500.

You trust guys making $6/hr with your rather expensive investment?
Fuck dude, do the oil changes yourself and you'll know everything is torqued right and the correct amount (and type) of oil was used.

How many times do I have to explain this? I live in a condo and the car lives in a parking ramp. I'm not going to impose on friends or drive 30+ miles each way to a relative's house just to change the oil.
I'd thought about dropping by RS but I'd imagine they're as busy as DB is this time of year and something like an oil change is probably a waste of their time even when slow.

There is always someone here willing to help out, especially for a 15 minute oil change. Just ask!

Just because people don't make a lot at there jobs, doesn't mean one can't take pride in their work.

LOL, okay sir.
Let it be noted that pride and competence are completely separate fields in life though.

I am not saying I don't agree with you, I am just saying there are people that still take pride in their jobs even though they are ones that do not pay well.
And yes I agree with ability to do a job well does not coincide with pride. There are plenty of people that don't take pride in their work but can do it very well.

^Is that because it's thicker and to help with small metal shavings (probably not the best words)?
