Re: The Gun Thread
Finally got around to de-neutering my M77 and making it compliant.
Modded an M14 mag to fit, replaced the FCG and threw on an AMD Brake until the Tabuk style gets here.
Now I just need to find some M70 wood

Re: The Gun Thread
I love the thumb hole stock, not sure why some don't like it. Makes for good accuracy. Love the long barrel.

Re: The Gun Thread
Should knock down a deer or two in my lifetime.
On another note, during my quest to expand my .357 magnum collection, I stumbled across a great deal from one of my tool guys
Ruger GP100 4" barrel
Still looking for that elusive 94AE in .357 though

Re: The Gun Thread
Anyone know of anyone that would want my SCAR 16s? I'd throw in ammo, pmags, case, sling etc.
paid a ton for it, would be willing to do 2300 for it probably, maybe 500 rounds or so through it.
I am trying to think outside the box on how I could maybe get the evo going. I think I like cars more than I like guns. The SCAR is awesome but i use it as much as I use my evo, meaning none. Two expensive hobbies (guns and cars) are not needed in my life and I will just use my 9mm pistol at the range to satisfy that urge when I get it.
I am not trying real hard to sell this but if it sold then I would put the evo back in action.
Feel free to PM.

As weird as this sounds, the economist in me says keep the gun. Like homes guns tend to increase in value over time as opposed to cars which are pretty much cash burning dumpsters of poo long term. Remember the guns and butter analogy?

My brother is trying to talk me out of it as well. He said wait for the next gun scare then sell it for 5k lol.
The gun won't go down in value a ton but it won't really go up unless there is a shortage in stock or a scare of a BAN.
I am trying to weight the value of it. I guess I just like the idea of a running evo for summer more than losing money on this gun.
I never pretended to be good with my finances either, so the economist argument goes right out the window lol.

Re: The Gun Thread
Put it on armslist.
Every gun I've listed on there has sold within a month. Even the 'spensive ones.

Sounds good. My uncle might buy it, if not I will throw it up on there.
Just looked around at pricing, looks like SCAR's and for that matter all AR's have really dropped in price, must be some serious stock around the US. I think to sell mine I will have to drop to 2100 or even a bit less. Bummer...
Thanks for the advice though.

Re: The Gun Thread
Start being practical with your money and stop thinking about buying $800 grills.

I didn't, I bought a 350 dollar one I thought I did good on that one.
I sold some rotors that I had in my basement and bought a turbo/manifold for the evo. So now I just need some fuel and bolts ons and bam, its back up and running. So I figured the SCAR is a good way to fund that.

Re: The Gun Thread
Wow! Blows my mind how similar 1911s look today compared to back then. You just don't change a classic that is so well built.
Its hard to see in the first picture, but is there a manufacture date? I see 1902 and 1913, but I can't make out the text.

I'm not totally sure...like you saw, the most recent date on it is 1913. I know it was issued to him around 1917 so we'll call it somewhere in that 4 year window until I'm able to bring it to someone who knows these things better.

Re: The Gun Thread
Nice WWI era 1911. It appears to be in great shape.
I wouldn't refinish it or anything. You should keep it in your family forever since it was your great grandfather's service pistol.
Some of those pistols are in museums.

Re: The Gun Thread
Good advice, I plan to to just that! I do plan to get it back to firing condition though and take it to the range a few times since my great grandfather, grandfather, and father have all shot it.

Re: The Gun Thread
It looks to be in really good. I wouldn't be surprised if it still shoots just the way it is. I wouldn't shoot any +P rounds through it though lol.
Hickok45 posted a video of himself shooting a vintage WWII 1911 on youtube a few days ago.
