Badass!!

I haven't even started my winter upgrade plans.

Have you seen the posting for KOTS at top end dragways up north?

I now live 5 minutes from top end

I didn't even know until I moved here that it existed, drive by it every week.

I hope to attend many events there this year with Mark's old slicks that I bought from him!

LOL, we will see. I no longer live the single life, family man now with woman and child so I don't know that she would approve of this.

Exhaust looks good. Reminds me of the old days when I used to drop my catback at RF.

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects

The car is on the ground now! I had some pulsation in the brake pedal and i believe it was due to my caliper being mounted too close to the rotor. The rotors are scalloped and the pad was not centered on the rotor. My father in law helped me out, he has a cnc mill in his garage, and he has been trying out dyi anodizing. The result Is awesome. They are made from a strong 7000 series aluminum.

So impressive, so much fabrication work in this car. The anodizing looks great!

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects

Damn that anodizing came out perfect! !!!

Keep getting weight out of the car so that smaller turbo you got might go as quick/fast as before!

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects

Update on what I’ve been up to lately. I have my $$$ sfi 15 Simpson fire suit now, Brainard enforces you to have one if you burn ethanol and run a turbo car quicker than 9.99.

I wanted a detachable steering wheel to make entry and exit of the car easier for safety and comfort. Searching was not easy, lots of misleading information from suppliers and forums. I also found out that NHRA requires SFI certified detach mechanisms and wheels. I didn't want to just replace the wheel, as I also realized that there was a weight savings opportunity. It ended up at 19 lbs for $250.00! I found the wheel here: http://www.dragzine.com/news/new-pro...m-quarter-max/
The sfi detach mechanism is from Stange. The wheel and detach are under 2 lbs!. I used 4130 Ύ” shaft and turned an adaptor on my lathe out of 1018 material.

I need to get an alignment and some fresh e98. I'll be going to rock falls April 23rd.

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects

I also improved the intercooler piping entry angle into the throttle body. It required me to build a new overflow tank too. It's all optimized now!

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects

Nice on the wheel, curious why you need an alignment though because of the wheel. Or is it because of the other suspension mods you did? It didn't take much to learn how to do a string alignment and I found it very rewarding if you're willing to put in a few hours, good luck this year!

The reason is the rear end is way out of alignment, with the old mustache bar bending it took the rear out of alignment. Thanks for the luck this year. I'm anticipating a very fun, fast, and reliable year!

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects

I just need to get some fresh e98 and an alignment and I'm ready for a test and tune. Rock Falls has a session April 23rd and I plan on being there.

I started the car last weekend and drove it around the block. So far the turbo seems to out spool my old setup, however the data is a little bit premature to claim victory. I'll know more on the 23rd.

I twist splines on every yoke I use. I was concerned about movement in and out of the transfer case when I went to the one piece driveshaft, so I found a forged yoke. Mondale pointed it out for me.

This one shouldn't twist the quality is awesome.

I also added a emergency stop on the dash that's connected into the safety battery disconnect.
