Sweet action! Is that the same clutch you had in there before? Why not go to something beefier?

1.5 years and about 18k miles on the pressure plate and about 12k miles on the disc, I replaced that when I had the motor out this year. Do note the issue I had at Proving Grounds last summer, I am 100% certain that led to massively increased wear. The other disc that I took out (when I did the motor) looked minty fresh and had almost the same amount of launches on it from when I was at rock falls.

This HDG6 6-puck is about as beefy as it gets...rated at ~650tq and it is very very very driveable. Other options are twin and triple discs...the price goes through the roof and I haven't seen any real first-hand accounts of people using them for long periods of time and doing anything better than these 6-pucks that are 1/3 the price.
All in all I'm happy with what I got out of it. Like I said it probably would have made it through the summer so figure almost 30k miles and 40+ launches. Remember, the car makes 600hp and I don't exactly baby it.--this isn't a 200hp honda that I'd expect to get 150k miles out of the stock clutch.
Fun fact: check all your options! Turns out MAP had a freshly built Jack's tranny sitting in their shop that I could have put in my car and used mine as a core. Seriously what are the chances of that happening at the exact time that I need one? .5%? Why I didn't call every shop in town IDK...Shane was in hawaii and I just knew Ron could do any trans work in-house so it made the most sense I guess. My apologies to MAP and thank you for the info!

Damn Scheides, it seems like whenever I check this thread you are experiencing some bad luck!
At least you keep your head up and pull through it like a champ! Keep up the good work bud!
Edit - This thread is what every 16 year old should be required to read before purchasing a modified turbo car...

so true. Seems Like the people that preach about how little their car breaks just don't post about it when it does break. LOL @ owdee comment.

I have to say it does a have a lighter pedal than the Exedy stage 1HD I have in my car. I think part of it might be that, imo, the X clutch pedal has a more downward push than the VIII and IX.

You're welcome to try the pedal on mine next time I see you.

So true! Personally, I think 12k miles out of a clutch disk in this level of performance is quite good.
My 4 pucks only last around 7k miles before they are at the rivets...
NBD, just replace and keep having fun!

Re: beaterX project thread
I seem to have similar luck as you, catch a symptom before it turns 100% catastrophic. Although, I have had less sever issues. You also lost all of your oil last year too, I cannot recall if it was your drain plug or oil filter that came off. How do you not damage a motor from that, lucky!
Your drag racing clutch stop debacle more than likely took a good chunk of life out of the clutch. I bet this one will last longer! This hobby will force you to continue learning best practices.

Yea, I am really good at breaking stuff, what can I say! Thanks for bringing up the drain bolt thing I had forgotten about that, I am thanking Tebow for saving my 'tarded ass on that one.
Continue to learn I shall indeed! Hopefully everyone enjoys watching the calamity unfold along the way

Re: beaterX project thread
My 6 puck disc was pretty iffy after just under 3k miles on my last setup so I put a new one in on the 2nd motor build. Danny said it was just heat so I was riding it too much. But honestly to make it traffic drivable you kind of have to ride it a bit.
6 puck ftw honestly, cheap and gets the job done. Honestly the next up in my mind isn't the twin from exedy its the triple because the twin as Scheides said doesn't hold a lot of torque. So it may be more drivable then the 6 puck but doesn't hold the power as well.
