Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Yea, its right on the slave cylinder. You will likely have to yank your intake off and its right on the front of the trans. Here's mine w/ rosey fork stopper on it. Bleeder is on the right, the slave rod that pushes on the clutch fork is on the left. Push the pedal down and this will move left about an inch. Let the pedal out and it will come back to its resting spot. If it doesn't move more than 1/4" or something then you have a problem.
Also, what's this talk about tomorrow morning, shit dude go fix it, the night is young! Hell it's still 'afternoon'

The rod was moving more than that for sure.
I am worn out right now...late night last night and the twins are going to be on soon. Otherwise I would. Sounds like Aaron is going to come help out a bit tomorrow morn, so we will see how all that goes. I'll post up results.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I'm betting with your AMS-style intake you won't even need to remove it. Just snake the hose up through a hole in the undertray.

I can see the slave pretty easily, I think I should be able to just get it from above, either way it shouldn't be too much work.

Just make sure whoever is in the car pushing the pedal down uses their hand and holds onto the pedal, just push it SLOWLY. Open the bleeder on the slave after they've started pushing and close it before they have bottomed out. Vocal communication is key. Repeat repeat repeat, flush that air bubble out!

I sure hope it is just an air bubble...
I picked up some DOT 4 tonight and the clear tube so should be good to go for tomorrow morning.
Lets hope this works!

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Well Aaron (turbotalon1g) and myself carpooled it over to my car...no dice We bleed all the brakes (there was a little air in the brakes, nothing crazy) and then we did the clutch a lot...there was some very dirty fluid in the clutch and we used a lot of fluid to really flush the clutch but still no good.
If you try to build pressure at the clutch at all it drops to the floor and you can here what appears to be air leaking from the clutch master cylinder inside the cabin near the clutch pedal...Aaron heard it as well so maybe he can describe it better.
Regardless we both agreed that it is almost undoubtedly the master cylinder after how much bleeding we did and by the sound it was making. So tomorrow I am going to call magnus and see if they will replace mine under warranty, i would hope they would. Also I will call Danny at DB and see if he can maybe look at this sometime this week and hopefully AAA will tow my car there for free as I am a AAA member.
We will see how this all goes down.
Lomker you have PM.
EDIT:
Almost forgot since I am a little pissed the master cylinder is bad...
BIG THANKS to Aaron for the help, much appreciated buddy, beers for you from me on the cruise!
Another EDIT:
This wasn't too terrible of a job at all, sure it took us a few hours but we weren't going for speed. Thanks for the posts for the order and advice to the others too Much appreciated.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Boo! I've never heard a master make an air noise, that's truely odd. What a ghey issue. Sorry dude. Glad you know how to bleed everything now though, its kinda like an oil change, everyone should know how to do it.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I've heard masters make noises when they're full of air. My IX and SiliconTek's X. The only thing I can think to try anymore is bleeding with a pressurized bleeder or maybe let it gravity bleed for a few hours (slave nipple cracked open and reservoir cap removed while periodically checking to keep the fluid topped off).

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Oh! You're right Kracka, I do remember when we let that air bubble get into your CMC the one time b/c we didn't keep the reservoir overfilled while bleeding. I don't remember how we fixed it though, just lots and lots and lots of bleeding? I remember yelling 'up!' 'up!' 'down!' 'down!' at each other till we were blue in the face.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Tons of bleeding, hours of gravity bleeding, line disassembly, etc.

I am going to talk things over with Danny tomorrow still and see if he thinks it makes sense to tow it to DB.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I do have one of the Motive power bleeders if you ever need it. I haven't used it yet...it's a part of the brake upgrade pile that I have here. I figure I'll get to that in the Spring.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
if you want help man, I'm pretty open all week, especially during the day, and I have a full toolbox. Grab a bleeder, and let's go to town on that bitch!

I guess if you want to go to my dads shop in New Brighton you can give it a try, lol.
I am gone Tuesday thru thursday though for work so I won't be able to do anything with it.
I honestly don't think bleeding will help it anymore at this point. Danny at DB has bleed it 3 times now, once for a few hours and Aaron and myself did it also for quite a while, it just didn't want to go anywhere. I could see maybe a power bleeder doing something, but pressure bleeding ain't going to do shit.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Get the power bleeder and try it before you leave. Worth a try and you only need one person to use it (IIRC).

One and the same
Give it a try, at this point anything is worth a shot before paying DB to rip it all apart again.
