Re: beaterX project thread
Nice! Just gotta put everything back together now or what?
I could never do an engine with buckets on my own. Seems way too complicated for this dumb ass prison guard.

Once you've done it a few times it's not so bad
Injectors are in the mail to FIC to get cleaned/tested and I think its time to buy some new flywheel bolts. I have to unmount the current shortblock and unpack/clean up the new one...I may assemble the longblock tomorrow but I need to decide about getting the flywheel turned and a few other things so I don't think I'll get too much further than that.

I'll be sending my 2000's to get flow tested and cleaned there. I believe they said it's $22 per injector, but includes new o-rings and before/after comparison.
Damn that timing job looks easy! Maybe I've been looking at Subaru motors too long but your longblock looks REALLY tall in this picture. Are the 4B11's any taller than an Evo 4G63?

I don't think its really any taller, the head almost seems thinner but with no lifters or rockers I imagine it is at least slightly smaller. The longblock probably looks taller for two reasons...first because of the oil pump; it bolts to the bottom of the shortblock and into the oil pan, you can see it in this pic (the lower chain). Secondly there is a whole cover that wraps around the bottom covering the crank caps, crank and rods as they spin down, almost helping prevent windage from the oil in the pan...I don't think there is a piece like this on a 4G63.

Re: beaterX project thread
Yes they do but since other people have had issues with 1680's I wanted FIC to look them over
Dunno if I'm even going to bother machining the flywheel, clutch had some good meat left on it...again, I gotta look things over and figure out the rest of these details still...

Dsm flywheels require the outer edge to be a specific height (.610") off of the center, by design. It's a silly thing but everyone with a 1g or 2g got to deal with it on every clutch job over the last 23 years.
