Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
Since talking with a couple friends, coming to conclusion no one knows or will know how long the motor has had thrse low numbers (ive seen posts from 09 than 2010 on this motor showing weird numbers from chucke) im going to install new plugs and a diy cop set up I bought from troy, new air filter and a gs 3port ebc and take it to shane within the next two weeks and get it tuned. If it makes power im just going to leave it alone if its a dog ill rebuild it. So the dyno will be my truth moment.

Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
After having a 2.4 I would never go back to a 2.0 on a street car. My 2 pence.

2.4 is beast on streets. Just cruising out of boost was awesome.

Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
If your motor has some decent miles on it or it needs to be bored, then you can't use std size pistons.

Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
Shane, after talking with a couple people I have another option of just getting it tuned seeing if it makes power than go from there. Even though it has low compression if it made descent power what do you think? Id like to make the car last till next winter so I can save up money for a rebuild but I dunno if itll make it all summer.

Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
Don't beat the hell out of it and it'll probably be fine; or do beat the hell out of it and add oil if/as needed.

Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
Then you're worrying about compression numbers that a beater-DSMer would die for

I hope a beater dsmer doesn't hope for those #. 1 of those #'s are within the serviceable limit.
But not burning oil between oil changes that's a different story

Re: Rebuilding motor, need suggestions
It was a joke, but we all know of at least a few beater DSM's running around with all holes <100!

Not at all, not even close, but if it's running OK and you're fine with it as-is then just keep driving it until you can afford to rebuild the engine.
