Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Yea, the michelins have the 70 dollar rebate so he is saying for $40 more total he can get me those.
I am probably going to get the michelins now if they let me lol. He said I'd get another 20k miles out of them which I find hard to believe but who knows.
These are the ones you were talking about right shawn?

Just a little confusing as there are like 3 or 4 different michelin pilot tires or something weird.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
This is a pain in the ass, I almost want to buy new star specs as I know I like them..ugh.
So I called the guy at discount, it is the pilot sport AS+'s he is talking about I guess.
Sticking with V12's I guess. Those are all seasons and to jump to the super sports its like $1400 (then $70 mail in rebate)or something crazy and I mind as well get some star specs at that price.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Star Specs are heavy out-dated tires anyway, Evo guys are the only ones who fap to them anymore. I'd take the cheaper Hankook RS3's over them any day.

So you were talking about the super sports being boss right? Not the PS2 or PS3 or whatever other ps there is lol. The ones I linked
I still think I am just going to opt out of michelin and stick to my v12's. I really just need something semi affordable and need to remember I don't have 1500 to blow on tires.

There a reason the evo guys still flap about specs, the RS-3's are good tires but they sidewalls are limp dick flimsy (I.e. communicate on a light car, feel like ass on a heavier evo). Had a few ride along in the same evo, once with RS3's and once on star specs. The difference in track times, steering angle, and car feel was shocking (1.5 secs on a 40 sec course). tried adjusting the tire pressures on the RS3 with little success and improvements on times. I don't understand the RS3 hype, they feel terrible on an evo.

Hmm interesting... I guess I'll be the guinea pig here as I just ordered a set of RS3's last week in 255/40R17 for my DSM...
The RS3's to take a bit more heat to warm up than the Star Specs, I know.
Shawn, was generation of Evo was that on?

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
My feedback. was riding in Brandon Ranvecks evo ix..#2 evo in the country @ nationals in stu autocross trim. The numbers dont lie. The tire to beat right now in street tire is the advan ad08. I am sure the rs3 is a good tire for the dollar spent, but it doesnt come close to the times the spec can put down.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
^Yea for sure. I had the V12's on my Evo in a 245 on stock sized wheels and while they were decent tires for the price, good wear, quiet, etc. I thought the sidewalls were limp like an old dog dick. I liked the Sumitomo HTZR III's waaay more. Spaz runs the v12's and he does not agree with my limp dog dick judgement. Potato po-ta-to

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
For what it's worth, I loved the HTRZ III's on my dsm. They are all I ran as they were a great bang for the buck. That was years ago so my opinion may be outdated.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I thought the HTRZ III I had on my 240 were pretty awesome for the price. I would definitely buy another set if I decide to go with a set of summer only tires again.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
V12's installed...yay, still trucking
Also got my "new" stock endlinks for the RSB install, thanks Chet!
Saturday I am finishing rolling the fenders and hopefully next week during the week I can do springs and RSB install and get it all aligned.

That wheel gap is sexy. Have you considered rally with your ground clearance?
