*ASAP* Caliper slider seized and stripped

The caliper slider on one of my new to me (used) 2 piston calipers is seized. Both were stuck. I was able to break one loose and lube it up. The other has just stripped. I've tried sockets, open and closed end wrenches, but the head has stripped. Also already cracked one 17mm socket. The other needed a 1 foot breaker bar so a lot of force is needed.

Here's the pinch. I need to have my car up and running by morning. I have someone coming by to help me bleed my brakes in a half hour or so, but it's a short window so I need to come up with a good solution.

So do I cut off the head and try to pull it out? Weld a socket or extention on to it and try to pull it out? I'm short on ideas here.

BTW I do have the sliders off my 1 pistons which look to be the same so I can replace it with one as long as I manage to get it out.

Re: *ASAP* Caliper slider seized and stripped

Run to your all-night Home Depot and get Mapp gas if you don't already have it. Heat that mother up real good, bang on it from all possible angles with a sledge, then try again to undo it. If you don't have anything to grab on to, you will probably have to weld something on there. But that's only so strong.

Re: *ASAP* Caliper slider seized and stripped

I actually managed to get it off without all that much hassle. Being able to get the first one off let me twist instead of pull. it took some wrenching, but it finally gave. Absolutely bone dry.

Thanks for chiming in so quickly though. I appreciate it.
