205/55/16...preferances?

205/55/16 is stock on a 1g AWD correct? I just want to varify incase the ones on my car are not correct for some reason!

Preferences? I will not spend over 400 and I'd like to keep it about 300. I dont need GREAT tires here, but I would like some decent tires for my DD car. Stock

16 inch stock rims.
92 laser AWD.

If you are looking for some to get you by and not brand new... Go to tires plus or some place that replaces tires, even the junkyard and ask about used tires. Most of the time they will sell you a decent treaded tire for about $20 each. A couple of my friends down here each got a set of tires for $25. Might be worth checking into, even if you have to replace them twice compared to buying brand new ones that will still cost you more.

thanks for the advice and ill look into it.. but i LOVE the feeling of new tires. My tires arent even gone yet, and I call the slow leak in one tire an excuse to buy new ones.

205/55-16 is the stock tire size and is what you should use on your stock wheels. Are you looking for all-seasons or summer only? For summer only tread in your price range, I'd look at the Fuzion ZRi's and Sumitomo HTRZII's.

I got a set of 205/45/16 Sumitomo HTRZIIs for around 400. I think you can find the 205/55/16 for cheaper than that though.

Re: 205/55/16...preferances?

I looked up the tires and they are looking pretty good to me. I will shop around some more but I might do that. I found some falken ziex 512s for like 300 at tires plus.

Question, On that site it says the tire is 8.4 inches wide.. hmm? How does this work?

Not sure!? I have the Wynstars on my FWD, I like how hard they are because they last longer, but suck for light to light racing.

Re: 205/55/16...preferances?

As long as we're on the subject of stock tires, I feel the question is too insignificant to start its own thread... How much trouble would it cause my car if I put 205/60R/16s on it? I have a new set I can get for free.

Your speedo will read a little low. Probably about 5mph low at 60 mph.

...and your handling and acceleration will suffer. You'll probably get better MPG on highway trips though.
