cleaning a block Q.

I finally picked up my short block this past weekend and I have a few Q on how I should go about cleaning it out.
This block has been on a stand for over 3 years mind you and it is complete.
I really dont have the option to hot tank it... so should I just drop the pan and go to town with some carb cleaner.. how should I go about cleaning out the cylinders? It did have a head on it but no plugs in the head so there is a little grime and random dirt in there also.

Any tips.

I would just use a rag with some brake cleaner to wipe out the cylinders and any miscellaneous grime, then put some fresh oil on the cylinder walls. There's not a lot to to do in that situation, I'd just change the oil after 20 miles, like a new build, and you should be all good.

I just plan on using some Rustoleum engine enamel. I've also thought about using por15 engine enamel, it looks to be ~$25/pint though.

I've used Rustoleum engine enamel with great success several times. I typically put a wire wheel on the end of a drill and clean the outside very well.

I used a can of aircraft paint stripper, then I'm going to pressure wash it to blast the paint off before I get it hot tanked. Probably overkill, but its only costing me an $8 can of paint stripper.

That's whats sux as im not hot tanking mine so we will see how well the paint holds
