Since I didn't want to jack the COP thread I thought I'd start this here. I'm to the point of trying to figure out how and where to mount the coil and transistor. There is zero room on the firewall in the general area/direction the wires need to go, so I was trying to come up with something else. I thought of maybe mounting them under the strut tower bar, but I am not sure whether the brackets act as a ground or not. Can anyone clarify that? Any other opinions/suggestions?

You can pretty much mount them anywhere you want. Their brackets do not ground them at all.

Some people have mounted them under the intake manifold and ran longer wires.

For mounting the coil pack think zip ties, non conductive material that attaches and can be removed in seconds. Also, the ever popular choice as you stated above the sexy, sexy coil on plug system. I saw it on Jason R's car at Autovations and damn. :jammin:

On an unrelated note, when tightening battery terminals- DO NOT - I repeat - DO NOT touch the wrench to the strut bar. If you do be prepared for a chance of mild pain and a spectacular light show from both strut towers.

Steve, we have had good luck modifying the brackets and mounting them on both the firewall and the strut towers. As long as the plug wire routing works and allows for the engine's movement, you have quite a few options. If you need something created, let me know.

Thanks for the input, I've got them fixed for the time being. I'll do some rethinking and talk to you about them when I bring the car up to the shop.
