Angry Magnus Motorsports

Alright here is my story:
Ordered a magnus intake manifold about 3.5 weeks ago. Ordered it with 2 extra vacuum ports and a Q45 flange. I realize that that takes time so I waited. Took 3 Weeks to get here from the time of order to the time I got it.
I first looked at it and I was excited. Until I looked closer, and this is what I found...

Not polished front piece where the plenums are...

Poor Machine Work on the magnus logo...

Poor smoothing done on the intake flange...

Not polished around the "donut"

AND WORST OF ALL...

THE DAMN THING ISNT EVEN WELDED!

I realize that some of that stuff is just me being super picky. but when you pay that much for a BRAND NEW manifold I expect a great product.
I contacted them last wednesday night and he contacted me back thursday morning asking for my contact number because he wants to work this out. I emailed him right back and gave him my number and the times I am available. 6 days later, no call at all. I emailed him again and no response. I didnt want to do this but I after 6 days of no call and 2 unanswered emails Im kinda pissed. Thats my story. I will keep you updated as I get this worked out.

VENOM Intake manifold FTW! That sucks man. I guess you can't say you get what you pay for on this one. Was never a fan of them especially after the test results here on Mitsustyle.

Re: Magnus Motorsports

looks expensive but they dont have very good quality control cause if they did it would have gotten caught by them. Sorry to hear about that!

Re: Magnus Motorsports

I wouldnt put up with that. I'd send it back and have it finished the way it was supposed to be done. For how much magnus charges, you should recieve a product worth the price.

A little JB Weld will fix it.

Re: Magnus Motorsports

I wonder if they have an issue with there welding staff, or the lack there of. The manifold looks rushed and was not looked over before shipment. And Shane is a JB weld master.

Re: Magnus Motorsports

That does blow. When you spend top dollar you should in return receive a top dollar product.

Forgetting an entire weld is pretty bad.

Actually the new magnus has a different velocity stack design. When I get one that actually has all the welds Im going to have his retest the new design to see if theree is any improvement

I dont even know what to do, I really want this manifold, but do I return it and order a new one or have them fix it? And Im pissed I havent even gotten an email back, WTF!

Re: Magnus Motorsports

I have had similar issues with mine, it is currently back at Magnus right now being rewelded (I hope). The #4 runner was split on 3 of the 4 sides where the runner meets the flange, and has never seen more than 19psi or supporting anymore weight than just itself.
Also last fall my Magnus throttle body broke. The shaft that holds the plate snapped in half where one of the bolts were and sent the bolt down 2 of cylinders in 2 pieces obviously. When I called them to see if they would at least warranty the shaft (not to mention that my engine now needed to be rebuilt) they examined the very detailed pics I took of the damage and then wouldnt call or email me back after several attempts. I wish I wouldve spent the few extra dollars and bought the AMS.

Re: Magnus Motorsports

My experience with an intake seems to be on par now. I picked up a parts car with Magnus intake mani on it. Pulled the motor swapped it into my 2g and everything seemed good. Did a boost leak test prior to start up and heard some air escaping. Sure enough, it was a crack around the welds on the #4 runner. Did I mention I had the intake freshly powdercoated... so sand it down and have it welded up. Should work fine now.

Re: Magnus Motorsports

I'm pretty sure they never polish the side of the plenum that meets with the runners. Mine isn't polished there. That's just inexcusable that they missed an entire weld like that though. Good luck on getting it sorted out.

Re: Magnus Motorsports

I got a call from them today. They said they are finishing up a new one for me and it should be out today! Now I am happy. I gotta send the old one back asap. And I realize that mistakes happen up was mainly upset about them not contacting me.

Re: Magnus Motorsports

You're not the only one. My Magnus wasn't missing welds but the welds had 3 pinhole sized air leaks. Their QC sucks! Don't know why they don't pressure test these. I didn't even bother calling them, I just had my brother welds it up. I will never do business with them again in fear of receiving worse the 2nd time around.
