Just wondering What all I can use to fix my car? I thought I read a post that shane made where they made different diffs for certian years?

Just curious which year diffs can I use for my car? I see a guy selling a 99 GSX LDS rear diff for $250 with 40K on it in Eau Clair? Can I use that?

I swapped out a 1995 Eagle Talon Tranny and Transfer case into my 1995 Eclipse. if that makes a difference.

All the 2G rear diff might be same except auto vs manuals. I know you have to be careful of is using the correct transfer case with the right tranny.

There are 2 Diffs that the M/T 2G’s can have. Both have the 3.545 ratio, and I assume the difference is LSD or non LSD.

Verify that your car has LSD, there's a small sticker on the pumpkin itself, and there should be one in the door jamb. I'm pretty sure you can even put a LSD diff in place of a non-LSD one, the gear ratio just has to match the tranny, which all 5-speed diffs do.

You would need the diffrent axles also.

I'm pretty sure that if there was a sticker on the rear diff (believe that's what "pumpking" is refering to) it's now burned off.

I'll check the door jam her shortly. thanks for all the help.

I would check and be sure everything is perfect because I know that the 95-96 transfer cases and trannys were different from 97-99. You couldn't mix and match the two. You could put a 95-96 tranny in a 97-99 but you would also need to swap the transfer case....

well just read this: http://66.193.230.60/~dlara/sedsmorg/showt...?threadid=13299

I don't know if any of this would have anything to do with the rear diff but considering that this is what it hooks up to I would think that the ratios may be different.

I am be completely wrong on this but I am just throwing out a suggestion to look into.

You are, ALL M/T 2G's have the same ratio rear diff.

Yesterday I got under the car for the first time and started to try to take the rear diff out.

And well I noticed a few things. First off Swanny was right. One of the seals blew and that's why I lost the fluid in the rear diff. And the actual part that I though was a hole. isn't (ie: I used my digital camera to take picts while the car was on the ground. And then zoomed in to view the damage) What looked like a whole in the casing was just the missing gasket or what ever was used to seal the casing.

So hopefully with the case still good I'll be able to just get this one rebuild. (the one in Wisconsin just sold yesterday... even though I'd been emailing him for over a week with no reply)

I need some pointers on how to take the rear diff out. Especially the rear axles as I think that's going to give me the most problems.
