The stock DSM ignition is extremely strong for a stock car. You really don't need to mess with it unless you are going over 8k or 550 whp. In other words, spend your money on something useful!

After that rant, I am probably going to a COP setup this summer sometime. I will be getting the COP setup from a LS1 corvette. It should look cool and give a little better spark, as I expect to be way over the 550 whp mark. The AEM EMS makes it pretty easy to do.

Do you use or need a MSD DISII for the COP system? I'm running an EMS and understand how the COP works...........but do you need the better spark from the MSD or not.

-Thanks, Matt

COP's obviously have their own coils built into each cylinder, so you don't need anything else. With the EMS you get to run sequential ignition vs. waste spark. This allows the coil more restore time, so RPM's are not a factor anymore. If the coil has more capacity, it will also give you a stronger spark (which the LS1's do).

Someday when I switch to the EMS, I'll also be switching to COP. It wouldn't make any difference right now.

I appreciate the option. I would of considered 2 days ago. I ordered aem c2di yesterday. I believe I unserstand install, but I am not confident enough thinking I will do correctly first time. The trigers I believe I might guess wrong so I will not soldier until start engine and everything correct, then solder. Thanks.

Anyone know what the dwell times for 04 Cobra Coils are? I'm thinking of using Cobra coils w/my AEM and sellin' the DIS-II.

I like the Cobra coils because they have a sweet ass boot/wire built in and they fit perfectly in the spark plug tray cover. NO MESS! or spark plug wires to route around intake, CAS, cams, fuel rails, regulators, or nuthin'.

Why GM? Why are they better?

I haven't seen much about the Cobra COP's. I know the LS1 coils are cheap and work good. Let me know if you find out any details about the Cobra ones.

what about insulation of the plug when we find plugs which will work. Must the plug cover the entire valve plug hole. The cnc valve plate covers the plugs. Some of these plugs are long and narrow. Confused about this.
