Have you verified the battery is good? the connections to the battery? Do the lights dim or go out when you try to start it? Did the signal wire that switches the starter get connected? is the wire between the solenoid and the starter motor fry?

That is the relay for the fuel pump. If that's just clicking or not working properly your car will not start.

Re: relay next to the ecu on a 1g

I second checking the connections, I had identical symptoms on my first engine swap, turned key, "click" nothing.

Battery was good, everything was good...or so I thought

I had missed one of the wires going to the battery, based on that you haven't replied I assume the issue was resolved.

I would not ever call into question the little relay box next to the ECU. DSM electrics have their issues (leaky capacitors), however I have found the overall quality of mitsubishi's wiring/electronics to be exceptional.

Like was stated earlier, make sure all wiring and grounds are connected, and that the battery is good.

The only issue I've had with one of those relays was the cover rattling loose on the MPI relay. The case made contact with the relays inside and kept blowing the MPI fuse.

Snapped the cover back in place and JB welded it. Been good for 10K miles since
