DSMLink Tuning guide...
I was looking to get a good street tune to tide me over until i get my FMIC pipes so i can install the 50 trim, 680s, FMIC, Forge MBC etc...
Currently i have the following on my 95 GST
Small 16g
450cc injectors
MBC
DSMLINK
3S Fuel Pump
Fidenza Flywheel
RRE Built 6Bolt with 2g pistons
RRE Stage 2 Ported 2g Head
Stock SMIC
3" Turbo Back exhaust
ACT 2100 Clutch
Intake pipe
RRE UICP
Greddy Type S Bov
mad tyte 2g GSX rims painted black (lol)
Basically what i was wondering is if this would be a good tuning guide to go by when doing a street tune. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/show...hlight=dsmlink
and a question, with the mods stated above what do you think would be a good boost to start at?
Thanks for the help
Tom

Re: DSMLink Tuning guide...
you don't have a way to control fuel pressure or a wb02 to see what you're actually doing. so i'd say just click the link over to stock injectors and let er buck.

Re: DSMLink Tuning guide...
yeah that would be fine and dandy but im seeing knock when im only running 10 psi. everything is at 0s across the board.

Re: DSMLink Tuning guide...
does your knock sensor still have the insulating goo in it?
check your base timing?
correct spark plugs?

Re: DSMLink Tuning guide...
My friend has basically the same mods as you(minus the 2g pistons, DSMlink, intake pipe, and 2g SMIC) on his 1g and he is at 15 psi with no knock. I know its not on dsmlink but with his SAFC and datalogger, he has not too much more fuel(maybe like 10% at 7000). What is your timing like? Why not add some more fuel? then if its still knocking look at your timing(fucking 2gs).

I dont know about the insulating goo. Should it have the goo or not?
If im understanding you timing question correctly, currently the dsmlink is set at 0 across the board for timing adjustment.
Havent checked the spark plugs, but will when i get home from work tonight and put in the NGK Bpr6's if they are not.

Tried adding fuel when i was at 15 psi, it didnt to much.
Now heres the thing, i havent done a good solid 3rd gear pull, i couldnt find a good place to make a pull without being harassed by da po-po. But i found a place last weekend that im going to do some pulls later at.
Im usually pulling 2.3-4 degress of knock in the 4k+ rpms. Ill attach one of the logs. I also dont think this was set up on my laptop correct to capture the correct values. I.E its not captureing the Throttle pos.
ill attach it in a bit aj really needs to allow .dat files to be attached.

Re: DSMLink Tuning guide...
it SHOULD have insulating goo. the goo acts as a dampner and if its gone the knock sensor gets really really finicky.
by timing i mean check your true base timing. as in, with a timing light, on the crank pulley.
when you mess around with timing on the dsmlink it assumes you have the stock timing dead-on-the-nuts, or wherever else you want to set it if you decide to in the future.

Re: DSMLink Tuning guide...
Even though your o2 voltage doesn't show it, I think you need more fuel since you are on stock injectors with your fuel adjustment at 0% across the board.

Re: DSMLink Tuning guide...
Probably a good idea since you were at 99% DC with the 450's.

not to be a thread whore. But when the insulation is gone on teh knock sensor. that means its toast right? And is there a difference in 90 to 91+ knock sensors.
My knock sensor on my block(out of the car) has no insulation around it.

Re: DSMLink Tuning guide...
You should be able to run the 450's & the small 16g no problem. On my old GST, I ran the same exact thing.
