I have a local that does it. I'm still using the TCU, but I will be selling once I get the car running.

Don't do racecar. Things like PS and AC don't weigh much, easier to add more POWAH, you're not going to break much with an auto.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

So i was messing with my DD and was tired of not having room, my friend suggested putting the wheels back on the DSM and pushing it outside.

Well I'm glad that I did, man was it nice to have all that room back again and seeing it on the ground with wheels on showed me how good looking it is and how much I missed it. I'm going to try and make some more progress with it soon.

The rain we get tonight/tomorrow should clean off the ton of dust on the car and I need to pull out all of my gauges and get them up for sale.
I'm changing the layout yet again since I won't be running a HU.
I'm planning on building a motor for now, but if I find a deal on a used built motor then that may find its way in.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

bored and tired update.

Going to try and make some progress on this, I pulled the z-series gauges out to sell (boost and egt)

Basically I'm parting out what I don't need or want anymore. I'm thinking that I want to back OG to white faced gauges I've always liked them and luckily it will match the white of the car.

I almost found a motor for it, but then the guy said he lives in ID. womp womp.
If i can get some spare time I'll be putting more time into it, I'd like to have it up for PG2 and actually race at this event, plus this is looking like the first year I won't race in 7 yrs.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Pulled the PS pump, reservoir, lines to rack. (For sale)

A bit cleaner on that side without anything in the way. We will see if I put it back in or not.

Closeup of the two holes that I need to plug.

You don't need to put it back in. Ive put 500 miles on in the last to days and its not a pain at all to drive.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Lame ballsack update.

I pulled the steering rack out of the car to do the "miata de-power rack" mod. Took me about 2-3 hrs tonight and was the first time I've ever done it.

Hopefully this week I can get it done and put back in the car by the end of next week.

Was curious on what you were talking about so I looked it up and found a nice diy, http://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/depower.php?x=1 I've always looped mine, but now you have me thinking of trying this.

Thats a good write up in that link. I think I'm too lazy to do that and would probably just swap to a manual rack lol

Same here, plus I'm trying to do everything the right way not rush it like I usually do and then think about how unhappy I am or all the things I need to do while I drive the car.

I must say so far it has been a lot of work and if it wasn't for having help I probably wouldn't do it or come up with another way to drain the fluid and fill the rack full of grease.

I need to weld up 2 holes then get a few fittings for the rest of the rack. I also need to get 2 tie rod ends and steering bellows that I guess were ripped already. Luckily I can warranty the tie rod ends.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Yea i was thinking of doing this but would like to here how it feels after the piston/seal is removed,
im in the same boat with do it once and be done, never been to thorough on any of my old builds, and I could tell by all the wrench time, I now have my own house and garage so I have all the time I need to put mine back together the right way the first time.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

It's a lot of work, I still need to get some fittings to plug a few holes and then get 2 holes in the rack welded.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Get ready to buy another power rack after the first 100 miles and a McDonald's drive through.

I think I've now replaced every part I took off making my racecar 10 years ago.

I daily drive my awd talon with welded diff and no power steering, no biggie. I actually really like the feel.
