Re: Any body using tmo chips?
Nope, guess I should buy one, huh? But, if I get one what's the point of you socketing it, isn't it already socketed?

Nope, unless you buy one that someone has already socketed

Re: Any body using tmo chips?
Slight difference in price, like maybe $1400-$1500.

Re: Any body using tmo chips?
wow, I guess I didn't realise how easy it was to program these. So you're saying someone like myself that has no clue on burning these chips would be able to do this no problem? Just gotta come up with all the numbers myself, and it burns it easy as cake? Maybe it's worth me screwin around with.

Re: Any body using tmo chips?
Yep pretty much.Evilscribe, at present, will handle fuel/timing maps, rev limiter, injector comp, idle speed, MAF swaps(2g into 1g, etc), and fuel cut.If you want to add stutter routines, alter stock boost gauge, etc you will need some experience.I'm sure in time, this will be added to Evilscribe as well.

It's worth it until you screw up and damage your engine.

Re: Any body using tmo chips?
Ehh, it's working fine for me. Normally, if you screw up the car won't start. Until I got it figured out I burnt a whole bunch of chips and ended up erasing them because of various mistakes I made. If anybody buys one of the programmers off ebay (like I did) I can help you figure it out. The hardest part is that they don't come with instructions really. The burner also works off laptops, so if you have a laptop and a few spare chips, it's possible to tune your car at the track.
As far as "blowing up the car", if you manage to blow it up with this, you would have blown it up with any other tuning system.

Re: Any body using tmo chips?
Really, theres a few very minor things that can give you big problems, but they're simple to overcome, and like Ryan said, the most that will happen is your car won't start.Of course you can enter bonehead values in your fuel/timing maps, but its the same with any other tuning device. So if you can't figure this stuff out after a few tries, you have no business doing anything to your car, other than driving it.

Re: Any body using tmo chips?
What is the difference? I like the idea of it, if you want to run something different just make another chip.

Different processor, instruction set, eprom, hardware registers and code.
