Testing Shocks Hardness Level

I have a 97 gsx with ground control coilovers and kyb adjustable gas shocks/struts. When I was installing the shocks in the rear the adjusting guide for hardness setttings on top of one of the shocks broke off. The actual adjusting device is intact but the top part with the numbers broke off. I adjusted the other 3 wheels on hardness setting 3 and for the wheel that has the broken adjuster thingy I estimated the distance I should turn to get to 3. Basically my question is, is there anyway to test out what hardness level the shock is set at because I don't know for sure and sometimes it feels like that one rear wheel kind of responds differently to the road. It's kind of hard to explain but I can feel it. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thanks.
