Control Arm

Would a 2g GSX control arm fit a 2g GS? I found some cheap ones for a GSX but I don't want to buy them if they will not work for my car.

Re: Control Arm

See how your question was answered. I would feel like i'm hijacking your thread.

How would you go about getting the control arm in to the steering knuckle. If you are putting it in yourself. When i try to tighten the nut it just spins. What do I have to do to get it the rest of the way on.

Re: Control Arm

You could try putting a jack under it to press it tight into the knuckle so it doesn't spin.

Or the ghetto way is to hold it with a vicegrips (under the knuckle) while you tighten it.

Re: Control Arm

Is it for the rear? I probably have an extra control arm from a gst? Pretty sure it's the same.

upper or lower? if upper, just put the wheel on & lower the car till it's got some weight on it ( you can lower the car all the way if you really want )then start the nut & tighten it till it is tight, raise the car, remove the wheel again & torque the nut down.

Re: Control Arm

Considering it's a 2G I'm going to have to say it is the lower he is talking about. All 2G lowers are garbage.

I had the same spinning problem with the ball joint on the upper control arm on mine. Just replaced the lower control arms on mine too.

Re: Control Arm

it is the lower it is a 99. I have tried vehical weight. jacking up under it. c clamping it. The only thing left to try is the ghetto vise grip. unless you guys offer some better ideas. Thank you to everyone that has given feedback, it is always a great help.

I did my lower with new ones & had no problems other than the CV in the way.. but I did the CV's at the same time. just start prepping by spraying some PB on the bolts & nuts. You'll be glad ya did.. & remember to reassemble with some anti-seize.
