Re: Spaz's Electrical Issues

New alt is in and working!

It runs and boosts fine with the new plugs (gapped, just for Brandon)! It feels good to be back from my double-digit boost hiatus.

Did you have your battery properly load tested as well?

Re: Spaz's Electrical Issues

Battery tested fine.

I'm starting to see missing again. I'll try to track it down tomorrow. I had a constant misfire (vacuum included) that started at the exact time the CEL came on tonight, so I'll get that read and see what's up.

I will in no way be out for the cruise, shit's just annoying.

Re: Spaz's Electrical Issues

What plugs, and what did you gap them too?

Couple other good things to try would be a boost leak test, and consider some new plug wires if yours are ancient.

Re: Spaz's Electrical Issues

NKG BPR7ES, gapped to whatever Craig gapped them to. They were gapped noticeably closer than the ones I pulled out, so that is something I'm going to look into.

New wires are on my list, but I just find it weird that they worked fine initially, then slowly started to misfire again. I can still peg double digits and sometimes full boost, I'm going to give an ECU reset a shot, there's a passing thought that it could be map related.

Reset the ECU. My 2G did this consistently, I can't remember if I ever fixed it. What a pita. Replace plugwires for sure sooner than later.

Re: Spaz's Electrical Issues

Get new plug wires and verify your plugs are gapped to .030". If they're still misfiring after those two things are done bring the gap down to .028" and repeat if needed.

Re: Spaz's Electrical Issues

I'll reset it and see if that fixes the problem. There's got to be an underlying cause, though, and I'll do some digging on that.

I'll start looking for plug wires, too.

Re: Spaz's Electrical Issues

ECU reset did not fix the issue. Time for wires. Not sure if I'll be able to get any tonight.

I'll check the coil too, but it only feels like 1 cylinder is missing, so I doubt the issue is there. Maybe it's time for a COP setup?

Re: Spaz's Electrical Issues

There is no way you are in need of a COP setup. Go pay Craig a visit and get some new plug wires. I'm sure he has a decent Bosch or NGK set that will work on your car.

Re: Spaz's Electrical Issues

If you can bring them tomorrow, that'd be awesome. I was going to show up and ask if I can borrow someone's wires for 5 minutes and go do pulls on 7 for testing, but not having to immobilize someone's car sounds good.

Thanks for the fix, Scheides!

Now, for that boost leak...

Let me know if you want any of these bends to make a UIC Pipe out of them.

I'll let you know. For a leak that large, it's still pretty elusive.
