Recomend a muffler shop

I am looking to get a 3in turbo back system made up for my 2g gsx.
I need to find a good local shop, to get this done.
I am in Minneapolis so I can go anywhere around the metro.
One of my WRX friends recommeded Exhaust Pros in Blaine.
They said 600 with a muffler and this sounded a bit high to me. 500 for a straight pipe but I am not sure how a straight pipe would sound.
Please steer me to a good shop I want to spend like 400 totoal.

JET's Customs I think I talked to you earlier today. Check out my member offered services thread. The pic's aren't great, but you can get the idea. I need to get more pic's of exhausts. I have some more current ones of IC piping if you want to see the quality of work that I do.

For quality products, dont low ball your speding. In most cases ( except people like jet) you get what you pay for. From what I've heard, jet does great work especially for the money. QPR mike, gods gift to the world when it comes to welding, however that will cost you quite a bit more than 400 dollars. Thats shop time heh.

I got my exhaust done at exhaust pros in blaine for my 1G. I got a custom fabbed downpipe to high flowcat to the exhaust tip, all 3'' and mandrel bent. They did a pretty good job, i guess.

Re: Recomend a muffler shop

I think you are mistaken. There are 3 mandrel benders in the cities, no exhaust shops have one. It will be a press bent exhaust unless they pieced it together, which those shops usually don't do because it is more labor intensive.

Re: Recomend a muffler shop

Jet is correct on that, not many place to get mandrel bends done locally. Heartthrob in litchfield is the only exhaust shop I know with a mandrel bender. They only have one because they manufacture systems. They are too spendy for the average shop otherwise.

Re: Recomend a muffler shop

Yeah, they probably have one of the stretch benders. They don't put kinks in the pipe anymore, but it does shrink the size considerably in the bends.

Re: Recomend a muffler shop

The point of correct mandrel bending is to pull the mandrel through the bend which should maintain the diameter of the mandrel through the bend. The mandrels are typically made of bronze so there is some wear, but they really shouldn't be decreasing the diameter if it is really a mandrel bender. The only bends I have ever recieved from Heartthrob maintained the right diameter.

Re: Recomend a muffler shop

Yes, the place he got a quote from is not true mandrel bent. The stretch benders are a bit better than a crimp bender, but still not nearly as good as mandrel bent.
